    power steering pump replacement

    hi everyone!i am looking to swap out my power steering pump on my 87 l body that i converted to t2.during the conversion and fresh engine build i replaced everything new except for.....yup, u guessed it!power steering pump.if anyone has any insight on easiest way r any tips please feel free to shout out.this thing is leaking like a mo fo!!tyhanks in advance!

    The pump will come out through the top but the bracket needs to be removed from the block or you won't be able to turn it to the right position to get it out. A friend of mine converted his to the ZF pump (the one with the plastic reservoir) which swaps out much more easily, without removing the bracket.

    You might want to try Lucas power steering stop leak before replacing it. My 85 Turismo was emptying the reservoir every 400 miles. I put the Lucas in and I never had to add ps fluid again over the last 13k I put on the car.

    I say remove it and replace it with a total electric unit from a MR2, Jeep, Prius, or Honda.....

    got er done!pump did come out the top after seperating it from the bracket and the bracket from engine.i tried the lucas thing like twice to no avail.mine was emptying the reservoir every day leaking past main shaft seal!installed a reman w reservoir,swapped over pulley and all is good!electric unit?no thanks!
