    omni potent shifter bracket issues

hey guys, anyone else have issues with the omni potent setup for the 555 in the L body? i installed the setup on a 555 and installed the trans into my sons 86 'S and cant get the shifter to work right. the main rod comming from the shifter sits too far rearward and hits the firewall when connected to the pivot. anyone else run into this? anyone got any ideas?

I would venture to say something isn't installed right, although I can't say for sure without seeing it.

Take some pics and post them. When I upgraded my shifter to the quick release heim style connectors, I had one of the rods backwards and the whole setup needed adjusted(I was reusing all the same brackets). After that it works great, even went and raced at an autoX event right after I got them adjusted(I broke the stock rod end autoXing).

well the 2 brackets the kit consists of are installed correctly as are the shift rods. i was doing some looking and measuring between the mount the kit comes with and the stock 525 mount bracket, the stock mount bracket has the pivot pin sitting further forward(towrads engine) then the omni potent kit has it and the stock bracket also has that pivot angled towards the engine too( just like it should be). i'd love to post pics, but i need to make a photobucket acct before that happens i guess. it looks like i'm gonna have to remove the bracket setup and make my own bracket( what i was trying to avoid by buying the setup from omni potent)

Not sure if this helps but there are 2 types of main shift rods - one for N/A cars and one for turbo. The elbow on N/A rod is welded at a 45 deg angle, while the turbo rod is 90 degs.

sure, will do. i was really stoked about this kit( not having to cut a hole in the floor) but am now kinda sorry i had my 19 year old (at the time) drop 210.00 on it and have this issue with it. i'll shoot the pics over later on tonite as i wanna take more with the 525 bracket next to the omni potent setup to show the difference.

Damn, this is unfortunate because I was really thinking about buying one of these. I really don't want to put a cable shifter in my Omni.

If somebody out there has used this product successfully, please chime in.
