Interested in the socketed SMEC cal. I've never tinkered with them before; you just pop the case apart, remove the chip and reflash them with a suitable program on a desktop?

yes you are right ! i have both Smec and Sbec for the new cars. Mine come with a chip and they are socketed

sbec is from a turbo car it came out of a daytona iroc r/t 92

Same price? What specifically did the SBEC come out of. Do you know if the car had a factory alarm system on it? That's what is causing my SBEC problems now I'm pretty sure.

2 1990 vnt car it was power windows power locks 2.2L turbo with vnt turbo stock intercooler
