    Daytona A/C install help needed

Currently my 88 Shelby Z is laid up waiting for a block rebuild... interior is all out cept dash. Having had A/C in my sebring for the last 3 years I decided I can't do without. So.. project A/C install is in motion.

    I have the following parts:

    A/C Clutch Relay
    Stationary Bracket
    A/C Belt Idler Pulley/Crank
    Condenser
    Expansion Valve
    Dash Control's/Vacum lines
Heater/AC box from my 89 Daytona
    Evaporator

    Things I need:

    A/C Compressor + hoses
    A/C Belt
    Receiver-Drier
    ???

    1. Now, the biggest question is: should my 88 Shelby Z have all the necessary wiring?
    2. Do I need the heater box out of my 89 or is the 88 one the same minus the condensor?
    3. Do I have to pull the entire dash to change the heater box?

Did your car originally come with AC? If not you'll most likely want to pull the whole dash IMO. I think it's easier to do it that way.

I had an '88 Daytona T-I that did not come with A/C. I got all the components, like you, and plugged everything in. All the wiring was there. It worked fine.

You have to keep in mind that it's cheaper for a manufacturer to build one harness and just plug in options as they're ordered than to make a half dozen different harnesses.

Ok. I got the heater/AC box out of my 89. It wasn't really that difficult once I figured out there were bolts under the hood holding in it and removed the 2 hex bolts in the 'H' valve... which for the record was not mentioned in the the 90 Service Manuals that I could see.

My 88 is at my brothers place so I didn't have it handy to refer to, but I checked out my dad's 89 Shelby and my 90 Shelby parts car (both non-air conditioned) and both had the wiring/square in the firewall/drain tube so I'm guessing like you said A.J. my 88 will have the goods too.
