    Re: 85 glh

I retarded the stock TBI cam 6 degrees in my turbo'd-TBI engine in my minivan and was shifting out of first at ~6100-6200 and shifting out of other gears around 5800. According to my trap and weight i made pretty much all the power the mitsu was capable of while shifting an otherwise stock 2.5 setup near the rev limiter.

It has got me excited to try a 2.5 with a better intake and turbo with the cam retard and see if i might want to RAISE the rev limiter.

My experience with stock-cam-timing 2.5 was the same as y'alls.

    Re: 85 glh

Winter is here! Even though all cylinder have good compression number, I decided to pull the engine to address the oil smoke, exhaust leak, and dripping trans.

Well, I know my #2 is using oil, I didn't know about #1.

I knew I had an exhaust leak, but I wasn't prepare for this.
    Missing nut.

Two nuts were missing and the third was finger tight.

    Slight exhaust leak..

Out come the trans and block

AJ noticed some of washers I've been using as shims is deformed just enough to stick in the lifter bore.
    New vs used.

    Don't see any thing strange.

Well, you may not have known it was there but finding that huge leak is worth all the work in and of itself. Any guidance on what washers NOT to use? I cant seem to mix and match a good set of used stock lifters into my spirit so i'm going to upgrade to the newer style and need washers.

T04E 50 trim turbo's shaft seized to the collar, collar is actually friction welded to the shaft, not even a press can press the shaft out. I don't think I'll be using Mobil1 ever again. No other damage found. Only reusable parts are turbine housing, compressor housing, and swing valve. The only turbo parts the rebuild shop has in stock that will work for my setup is a T04B V trim parts and I had to modify the actuator for it to work.

    Inducer

    Exducer

Still had to grind the compressor housing to get more clearance.

Experience with a V-trim compressor wheel/housing vs a T04E 50 trim compressor wheel/housing with EVERYTHING else kept the same is that car car have more gradual rise of torque instead of rapid rise of torque, so less torque steer but about the same amount of top engine from butt dyno.

    Re: 85 glh

I was experiencing electrical issue with my car and decided it isn't worth my time to troubleshoot the issues, since there is only two possibilities, computers or wiring, none is available new. Wanting to keep the car, aftermarket ECU is the only option and Megasquirt / Microsqurit sounded so good.

For simplicity sake I went with batch firing injectors and waste spark ignition system, so the compact\slightly cheaper Microsquirt would work fine for me. I will only need one crank sensor and a 36-1 wheel welded to my crank.

My Microssquirt input/outputs are the following.

    Inputs are:
crank/hall sensor, shielded from the shielding of a coax cable. Thank you A. J. for the tip. (no need for cam sensor)
    coolant temperature sensor (Chrysler sensor)
air temperature sensor (open element Chrysler sensor)
throttle position sensor (Stock Chrysler sensor)
    ethanol sensor (GM sensor)
o2 sensor (AEM Uego with 5v output)
manifold absolute pressure sensor (GM 3 bar map)
knock sensor (knocksense controller http://www.viatrack.ca) edit: knocksense is no good for my needs as it can only display light and do digital on/off output, looking into lilknockmeter instead. lilknockmeter can display light, has headphone output, has on/off digital output, as well as analogue output... :yeah!: Dodge 2.2/2.5 are very noise engines. Stock ECU consider .8V is a knock at 2000rpm, while it consider 4V is a knock at 4000RPM. So I need something that can give me an analogue output.
A/C sense wire - as it turns out, I don't need it and can use it for something else instead.

    Outputs are:
idle control (on/off solenoid, not the stock stepper motor) edit: MAC valve (same valve people used for boost solenoid) internal opening is too small, only raise idle by 500-100rpm, not enough for my a/c needs. Trying a different valve/solenoid
    tachometer
two set of Ignition coil (goes to 420a coil)
two set of injectors (75lbs low impedance injectors with a Volvo injector resistor)
a/c cut off relay wire - works great, once I got the setting correctly in TunerStudio
fan relay wire - works great.
    fuel pump relay wire

Boost control is handle by my HDi electronic boost controller, and I am very happy with that.
Added an external voltage regulator, super easy to do.

Megasquirt has more options I'm sure, but I don't need them, why pay for them?

I have around $1226 into parts plus shipping

    Microsquirt + 8 ft harness $369
    36-1 wheel $32.00
Weld 36-1 wheel to crank $100
    crank sensor $43
    QuadSpark $89.00
    MAP sensor connector $8.50
    MAT sensor connector $10.00
    ECT sensor connector $10.00
    TPS sensor connector $10.00
    420A wires $20
    420A coil $20
    Wiring Connector packs $30
    USB to serial $15
    Misc wires $40
    Uninsulated crimp $20
    Crimp tool $13
    Shrink Wrap $10
    Misc bolts $15
    Relay $15
    Fusebox $25
    Fuses $5
    E85 sensor + connector $80
    knocksense $80
    Injector resister $30
    wire loop $20
On/off Solenoid valve for idle control $30
    3m tape $6
    Tuner Studio + Megaviwer $80
    etc...

Separating engine harness with body harness.

    Mounted.

    All needed wires labeled.

Made bracket for crank sensor, using metal from the shifter bracket on top of the transmission. Will have to reinforce the bracket after the crank is welded to 36-1 wheel.

Marked where the 36-1 wheel needed to be welded to the crank pulley.

Instead of buying high impedance injectors you can grab a set of resistors from a DSM and wire those up with your injectors, you can then keep your existing injectors.

    I may just do that.

36-1 wheel is welded to the crank. Need to sand blast and paint.

    Gorgeous. Nice work.

    Never too old to learn!!

    Thanks

Interesting coil mounting! What did you stick down the middle to seal against oil in the distrib?
