    Hey Jer:

Ed Peters mentioned removing 3 blades on the Phoenix 97 Convention tapes.

Great set of VCR tapes that I always hoped someone would convert to CD.

I guess CD's are now ancient so my hopes are forever dashed.

Possibly Harry got the idea from Ed or it was his own??

In any event i t was nice of him to share!!

    Proud GEDer.

    Thanks
    Randy

Yes it was Randy. Much room for thought? A lot of die grinding and judicious cut off wheel work. My GED came from the USMC after quitting high school at 16 and joining the Marine Corps 2 months after I turned 17. Took 'til I was 23 before I made the decision to go back and get my BA and that took 5 more years, but with a little help from Uncle Sam I made it through debt free. Not the way I'd advise anyone else to do it but iz what iz. Be safe out there Randy, crazy world we're living in now. Jer Still pains me to know you're no longer the care taker of that very fine '83 'Page. I've made so many years and mods to my '83 GT Scamp I know we'll be put in the same hole together, lol

I'll probably be put in the hole before you Jer!!

I've been attempting to recreate my Black Rampage but a stroke got me.

I now have most of the parts but am short on the strength/energy part.

My GED was only for high school, went to work after 11th so missed 12th.

    Thanks
    Randy

    Re: 85 glh

Drove 24 minutes in 112 degree AZ afternoon with a/c on, a mix of surface street of 6 miles, 5 miles up hill freeway, then 5 miles down hill freeway.

Highest it got was 211.5F when I was at the uphill freeway, then comes back down to around 205F after the climb.

So, the myth of it not working in a street car is busted.

Here is the MS log if anybody is interested, the ms log viewer is free.

Is that with the fan running while above 45mph or is it cycling on and off? Are you using water in the system, or coolant. Thanks for the info.

50% Peak coolant and 50% distilled water. 0% water wetter.

The factory setup is fan is always on when the a/c compressor is on for 85 and newer. So I left that alone.
Beside, MS2 doesn't use VSS so I can't program anything with speed involve, plus, I'm out of inputs and outputs on my Microsquirt.

Excellent. Thanks for that info. I really appreciate it. If you don't mind my asking, why 50/50 when you're in AZ? I've read that water cools better. Are you just doing it for the additives?

Water does cool better, but glycol raises the boiling point and offers corrosion protection. We all know that these engines, any engine, have hot spots and areas of stagnant flow. You have to keep the coolant from boiling in those spots because steam doesn't cool well.

In my early days of experimenting, I used water wetting once with a reduce amount of coolant and didn't see any improvement so I stopped using it. Water absorb the heat but if the radiator can't get rid of the heat, the water will just keep holding on to the heat and cause the engine run hotter and hotter.

I feel the cooling issue on my Omni has never been because the water/coolant not absorbing enough heat from the engine, but rather the radiator can't get rid of the heat fast enough due to obstruction, too much hot air from the condenser/intercooler, lack of air flow design to draw air thru the radiator by the Dodge Engineers, and/or etc.

Harry, Have you tried the S10 airdam? That'll help pull air through your system. Side benefits include more downforce and less drag.

S10 air dam is for next weekend test. Since I have the ability to log, I'm changing things one at a time to see what the effect is.

This week test is put a 3/8 restrictor into the from the 4th cylinder mod to the waterpump to see if I can get the system warm up faster.

    Re: 85 glh

3/8 restrictor makes no difference in engine warm up time. I guess as long as the coolant is moving, that's all it cares.

Mounted my littleknockmeter to the ash tray. Much easier to monitor knock.
