I think the biggest bang for the buck is the relay setup. You can use the regular glass lenses from the auto parts store that way if it gets broke you're only out about $20....the big difference is the new wiring and better voltage. On the Hella setup I had to trim the backside of the bucket for clearance on the new connector and bulb.

The autopal ones suck!...take it from a guy that used them and has thrown them out.

First...they are made cheap in india...or somwhere close to there...they are not sealed...water WILL get inside them...specially if you drive a older daytona with flip up headlights. with the added leaks, the bulb will not last very long..one time i flipped my headlights up after a down pore and almost HALF the lens was fillled with water....and i did drill drain holes when i got them...well the cheap metal cast case rusted the holes shut...+1000 to the rally lights!

Interesting, I'm running the autopals in my 97 Trans Am with flip-up headlights. I've had them for 3 years now, and not a hint of water in them.

Can't say that I've ever had glass headlamps chip, but the Valeo fog lights on my Daytona are tore up. That being said, the Hellas in the GLHS are plastic lenses.

Srt4? Sealed beams? Ifyoure talking fog lights, they are more vulnerable than headlights just due to location.

Do you have a part number for the plastic ones? I think that's what the OP was looking to find.

No idea, they were on the car when I bought it. I can see if there's any numbers on them when I swap them into the new header panel after the car comes back from the body shop next week.

E-code lenses are supposed to throw the light out differently. AFAIK in Europe all road signs have to have illumination so there is no need to throw light up or any higher than ground level at either side. DOT lights are setup to illuminate road signs which is why HID conversions tend to blind oncoming drivers.

I wasn't talking about E-codes in general. Britain and British colonies that drive on the wrong side of the wrong throw the light to the left, vs all other Euro countries that throw the light to the right. If you get British/JDM/Aussie lights you'll blind the hell out of people coming the other way. I have E-codes on all my cars. Love them.

Re: 5x7 sealed beam headlight conversion

I've only had one problem with e-code autopals and leaking. I'm thinking you need to seal the back of the headlights for a daytona since the seal is not designed to be in that position. E-codes are only barely ok for HID conversion. A projector conversion, while still technically not legal, is the most responsible way to increase any headlights output/efficiency.

Re: 5x7 sealed beam headlight conversion

My Hella's don't leak in my Daytona either. I did have issues with a cheap H4 conversion bucket leaking in my 90. I had to return one and then years later both were garbage. There isn't a lot of room in a pop-up Daytona for true projectors. I've recently lookexd into this I'm not sure there is enough room in the back of a H4 converted one for the plugs of HID's. I've got an HID kit on my motorcycle, so I've got hands on experience with this.

I stand corrected. The Hellas in my GLHS are glass, not plastic.
