I wonder if it's possible for the oil to cavitate in that style pump? I know that's a long shot, but cavitation is a very violent event and could cause severe damage.

Yes, cavitation is definitely possible and ont he "potential cause" list

Well, I didn't know that. I don't know as much about the 2.4, but I like to try and solve problems. Can you guys point me in the direction of the other times the cavitation has been discussed? Thanks!
