    Custom LM/Cal questions?

So, I hope I am posting this in the right place, putting together a super 60 turbo swap, 3 bar map, +40's 255l pump, srt 4 cooler.. exh etc etc etc..

My question is.. can I stay with the the 85 electronics? It's had the two wires run since the previous owner did a T2 swap.. and running a glhs computer now...

Or do I need to switch to later electronics? Who does these custom cals?

Also will I still need a ADJ FP regulator with a Custom Cal?

I plan on using a wideband as well.. to play it safe with a full dyno tune as I have access.. thanks I really wanna get this thing together for SDAC LOL

No easy solutions for tuning the 85 or 86 stuff. You would need to switch to an 87lm and that would give you all the adjustabilty you need.

On the afpr some choose to run them if running lots of boost so they can lower the base fuel pressure to prevent super high fuel pressure

the AFPR is basically the quick way to resolve things. in a proper tuning environment, the regulator is only needed to supply base pressure, all the fueling needs are done through calibration.

I would def recommend one if you are running a vendor calibration, so that you can tweek the fuel to your needs. then you may report back to who u got the cal from and they can make adjustments....I would suggest Shelgame for your calibration. His stuff will more suit your needs for the vehicle, where I have noticed that the bigger vendor cals are very generic.

Update to full 87 wiring and you'll be able to tune it yourself.

Swapping in an 87 LM... Running some wires (or using unnecessary wires) for the MAP sensor.. Then swapping a couple pins around.. The speed sensor and something else.

    Pinouts are here..

    Re: Custom LM/Cal questions?

OP says previous owner did TII swap so 86 dist. and AIS wiring should be done. Just need to run external map and switch oround Powerloss lamp and VSS pins. Then of course buy a 87 LM. Then you should be good to go. BTW the upshift light wire is removed from either the power loss lamp socket or the VSS socket and not used. IIRC, it is a orange with light green tracer wire.
+1 on the AFPR. Seems like all the vendors cals are made on the rich (safe side). Obviously with good reason.

And a green wire? EGR control.. also isn't used... Leaving only a ground needed for the MAP..

I like AFPR's, good for tweaking fuel pressures.

Why not. Most of the fun stuff is started on the smec. I was getting ready to convert my buddies omni to smec because the 87lm prices suck but I found one for trade on something that I didn't need.
