    86 daytona fuse issue

    ok i finally got to wiring up my car to get rid of all the fusible links but instead of using a fuse box from later dodge i used a pdc and then wired it to a fuse block but now when i turn the key everything is good but one it starts it blows the first fuse which is the 12 guage alt wire could the fuse im using be too small i am using a 40 amp maxi fuse medium size

    You have to watch, there are 2 thick wires going to the alternator and one is the ground and they both run pretty close to eachother.

    where are they located shackwarr will a 4o amp fuse run the altenator do you have a picture of the wire you are talking about

    For alternator, you need 160 amp maxi fuse

    so by using the 40 amp it just overloads it

    the two thick wires going to the alt run in the harness that runs across the front of the engine. They come up to the drivers side and one originally hooks to the - battery harness and the other runs to the fusable links.

    ok ya i found the one from the negative side which is black and the other one on the positive side is also block i found both of them they both look fine is a 40 amp to small for that altenator

    ya i went to think and found it very useful thank you tryingbe im just new to the whole wiring idea that's all i wanna make sure i have all my ducks in a row before i attempt it again that's all
