    Clutch Switch?

Do the manual cars have a clutch switch stock? I would think it would be necessary for the cruise to know if the drive was dis-engaged. But, I honestly never looked to see if my van had one (and now it's gone). I would assume it was wired into the same input as the P/N switch on the auto cars - if it exsists. If not, then then what happens when you push in the clutch while cruise is on? Not that it's a good idea, but you'd think they'd put a failsafe in...

My car does (94 P body, factory manual transmission). Earlier years did not, not sure when chrysler introduced them. 1990 minivan fsm I have here makes no mention of a clutch switch.

    Re: Clutch Switch?

My 87 ShelbyZ didn't. I made one using some aluiminum and a spring loaded door hinge from homie depot It's totally adjustable which is nice. I can set it to activate just as the clutch disengages or to where if you even breath on the clutch it will activate which is great for having other people drive your car so they don't rest their foot on the clutch.

Early cars didnt, not until maybe 90?

For the 2-step I benchmerked every one I could find at the pick-n-pull and ended up with a GM one that was about 1" wide target LOL

I know the autos have a PN switch. The reason I'm asking - won't help the auto's

maybe the cruze kontrol routine checks for sudden increase in revs (rpm)? then it could just end cruise-contol mode, like it does when hitting the brake.

Must be. The code is probably not fast enough at detecting clutch engagement for what I'm looking for. Oh well, we'll just have to add a clutch switch for SWOL...

    Re: Clutch Switch?

When I had to get an Out-of-Province inspection done on the LeBaron I had to prove to the guy that there was no clutch switch in 89. The FSM proved useful in that. I also printed off part number lists, and the first mention of a clutch switch was 92.

My r/t doesn't have one, neither does my shadow. If you push in the clutch with the cruise it just revs up then shuts off the cruise.

    Re: Clutch Switch?

I know the cruise routine calcultes acceleration. The clutch detection must be part of that routine. Good to know someone tried it...

    Re: Clutch Switch?

I used a 90 or a 91 daytona 3.0 5-speed for my swap and I looked for hours on how the clutch switch worked and where the hell it was. I finally realized that there never was a clutch switch there from factory. Bewildered to say the least.
