1988 Dodge Shadow CSX-T: the only one made with a sunroof

Description: I've decided to sell my CSX-T if anyone's interested. It's the only one made with a factory ASC sunroof (I WELCOME ANY AND ALL CHALLENGERS TO THIS FACT, I have three years worth of correspondence with all kinds of people to back this up. I've been trying to be proven wrong all this time, but it didn't happen. And NO, the daughter of Thrifty did not own this car).

Condition: This car does not run. The engine is the regular 2.2 t1 with A520 transmission. I don't know why it doesn't run, I bought it like this with the intention of rebuilding it anyway. All the Shelby specific parts are on the car (wood/leather steering wheel, horn button, dash plaque (not original), rear trunk lid medallion, all ground effects, rear trunk spoiler, Shelby CSX-T door stickers, Shelby door edge sticker, turbo boost gauge, door sills, dashboard Shelby insert, etc.. It has a regular Chrysler valve cover).

Exterior: The outside was repainted at some time back to the factory colors, so it's still in pretty good condition but not mint.

Interior: The interior is in good condition, the carpet is pretty dirty. It's also missing the flip up rear package tray, and the spare tire well has some rust in it. The ignition switch was monkeyed with by the previous owner too, so needs to be repaired (I'm pretty sure I already have those parts to fix it).


Included for free:
1) Four correct Lemans wheels (two right ones and two left ones). They need to be restored and do not have the center caps.
2) Full Shelby CSX-Vnt Shelby pattern interior (two front seats, back seat top and bottom, and two door panels. The driver side seat bolster has the typical wear on it).


Miscellaneous: This car has a clean Missouri title and in my opinion is an awesome project car because almost everything's there that's original. It's NOT a mint condition show car. I'm going to take and post pictures asap. I'll help load the car on the shipper truck or trailer.

I'm not selling this car to anybody who wants to part it out, and am not selling any parts off if this car; everything is being sold together. Anyone can pm with any questions. I'm also not "bumping" this car, if someone buys it, that's great, if not I'll just keep it in my collection.

Well the factory installed the sunroofs in two ways, at the factory, or at ASC (for the Shelby's). There's a kid on this site that has a factory ASC sunroof Shelby Lancer. There's also correspondence on this site (it's in one of my old threads) from a guy that used to work at the factory back then. He said when they built the ASC sunroof cars, they finished the whole car except for the headliner at the Dodge factory. Then they transported the cars down the road to ASC, where the sunroofs/headliners were put in...

Your showing us that your car has a ASC sunroof. Yup it does. Your telling us that your car had factory installed sunroof, and that it is the only one that was so equipped. So it is a 1 of 1 CSX. Not trying to bust your chops here, but where is your documentation that ASC installed this sunroof when Chrysler still owned this car, or window sticker that acknowledges factory sunroof was installed at time of sale? In three years of digging for info on your vehicle, what documentation do you have about your particular car? The dealership and the first registered owner surely would have had to pay for this sunroof install, because ASC didn't install it for free. Any dealership records? Original owners contacted? What does ASC records show? This is the documentation you need otherwise this CSX could have very easily been brought to ASC anytime after the in service date to have a sunroof installed. Your claiming it is a 1 or 1 car, so you should have the burden of proof that it is what you claim it to be, and not us proving that it isn't what you claim it to be. Without the proof, it just seems like a lot of speculating or filling in the blanks on your part. A good friend of mine is really into the CSX's. He previously owned the one that went for astronomical money at BJ. If you could show the proof, I'll bet it would raise his eyebrow. Like the car, good luck with the sale.

Some things were "factory" that were farmed out by Chrysler. Daytonas with t-tops had them installed by Cars and Concepts, there was a sticker in the door jamb indicating this. On 90 Dakota Sport convertibles ASC did the conversion, and there was also a door jamb sticker nothing this. However, all these cars were the same though. The conversion on each Daytona was the same as every other one, same for the convertibles.

In the case of a P-body, they could be optioned with a factory sunroof which is very different than the ASC unit in this CSX. There weren't two types of factory sunroofs in 88 and it seems clear that at the very least this CSX was shipped to Whittier from Chrysler WITHOUT a true factory sunroof.

Anyone can go to the dealer today, buy a new car, and have an aftermarket sunroof installed by the dealer prior to taking delivery, which is what this looks like.

Shelby bought his cars in batches though from Chrysler and they were all the same. All 87 GLHS had factory sunroofs. None of the other #'d cars did, they all came from Chrysler the same way as specified by Shelby before he modified them. Maybe this particular CSX had the ASC sunroof installed before leaving Whittier. Having the original sales order and/or window sticker would go a long way to support your claim. Without additional documentation though, you can't really claim the car is 1 of 1. That claim without documentation is like claiming to have slept with Pamela Anderson without a videotape evidence, which given her past exploits it would be unlikely the camera wouldn't be rolling.

If you have more documentation though post it up, it would be interesting to see.

100% agreed. Ive issued many PO's for add on sunroof/moonroof's. I'd put $100 on the fact this was added after it was delivered to Thrifty. I'd also put another $100 on the fact it was done after its rental service. $200 bucks to be made here... anyone?
