+1, even without the sunroof, it's a good deal price-wise, which includes a set of Lemans wheels and a complete vnt shelby print interior.....

Re: 1988 Dodge Shadow CSX-T: the only one made with a sunroof

We wouldn't let ASC into the plant to install a sunroof. Ex BIW dimensional engineer, Sterling Heights Assembly (chrysler). Read: not built with a sunroof. If anything, this car has been modified from "stock" (which of course is relative on a numbered shelby) and the sunroof is a demerit in such a vehicle. I'm sure Shelby didn't divert one car between stamping and whittier unless you have some freaking awesome documentation that was not presented. Even so, it was not exactly "built" with a sunroof.

No one said that ASC did sunroof conversions in the Chrysler factory. In fact, there’s a post in here on the ASC sunroof installation process; did you read this whole thread?

“I'm sure Shelby didn't divert one car between stamping and whittier unless you have some freaking awesome documentation that was not presented” – Tell that to the daughter of the Thrifty president

By the way, I’m not presenting any more information to chop busters, from now on all that information is reserved for serious buyers only….

So let me get this straight.

You challenge people to prove you wrong.

Questions get asked and you produce nothing in terms of documentation to support your claim.

And now people asking questions are chop busters????

Re: 1988 Dodge Shadow CSX-T: the only one made with a sunroof

ASC was doing sunroofs for Chrysler and marketing them as factory sunroofs, but if I remember right they were doing power sunroofs. The 88-89 Lancer/Lebaron GTS(including Lancer Shelby) had the power sunroof option in the sales catalog but it was farmed to ASC to do it. I think the 89-90 Caravans/Voyagers where the same way.

There is no mistaking that it is a ASC sunroof, and it's on a nice CSX-T. Other than the cars I mentioned, the factory sunroofs where done in house with it stamped into the roof skin, with the water trough and the drain tubes. Chrysler even had there own glass for it Safeguard which is also on the windshild and side glass. At least one thing if you are going to have an aftermarket sunroof, ASC is problably one of the best out there.

Re: 1988 Dodge Shadow CSX-T: the only one made with a sunroof

I think the 1st gen minivans were factory stamped type jobs. I've seen one, and it didn't have the tell tale trim around the outside of the hole. It looked like any other factory stamped hole in the roof moon roof I've seen. I've also seen a couple of the ASC H body cars over the years they are well done for something that was finished after the car was assembled. Strangly it appears the h body also had the factory installed pop up sunroof as an option. I don't want to be a chop buster, but I am genuinely curious about the info you have collected on your car.

If you think about it, an ASC sunroof makes more sense on a CSX-T than a factory pop up roof. Since Shelby bought a batch of identical cars they should all have hard tops, and having ASC install a sunroof would be much easier than getting Chrysler to build one car with a factory sunroof. I'm sure the young lady would have never noticed the difference anyways.

Re: 1988 Dodge Shadow CSX-T: the only one made with a sunroof

ASC was (and may still be) installing sunroofs at factory located just off I-75 near Taylor-Melvindale MI (approx. 10 miles south of Detroit). Unless called into the plant by an engineer or quality manager, they would not install sunroofs in a Chrysler plant. The union would have a pile of grievances to the HR manager within the hour (even in 1988)!!!!

    Selling or Wanted Price: $1800

Description: I've decided to sell my CSX-T if anyone's interested. It's the only one made with a factory ASC sunroof (I WELCOME ANY AND ALL CHALLENGERS TO THIS FACT, I have three years worth of correspondence with all kinds of people to back this up. I've been trying to be proven wrong all this time, but it didn't happen. And NO, the daughter of Thrifty did not own this car).

Condition: This car does not run. The engine is the regular 2.2 t1 with A520 transmission. I don't know why it doesn't run, I bought it like this with the intention of rebuilding it anyway. All the Shelby specific parts are on the car (wood/leather steering wheel, horn button, dash plaque (not original), rear trunk lid medallion, all ground effects, rear trunk spoiler, Shelby CSX-T door stickers, Shelby door edge sticker, turbo boost gauge, door sills, dashboard Shelby insert, etc.. It has a regular Chrysler valve cover).

Exterior: The outside was repainted at some time back to the factory colors, so it's still in pretty good condition but not mint.

Interior: The interior is in good condition, the carpet is pretty dirty. It's also missing the flip up rear package tray, and the spare tire well has some rust in it. The ignition switch was monkeyed with by the previous owner too, so needs to be repaired (I'm pretty sure I already have those parts to fix it).

    Included for free:
    1) Four correct Lemans wheels (two right ones and two left ones). They need to be restored and do not have the center caps.
    2) Full Shelby CSX-Vnt Shelby pattern interior (two front seats, back seat top and bottom, and two door panels. The driver side seat bolster has the typical wear on it).

Miscellaneous: This car has a clean Missouri title and in my opinion is an awesome project car because almost everything's there that's original. It's NOT a mint condition show car. I'm going to take and post pictures asap. I'll help load the car on the shipper truck or trailer.

I'm not selling this car to anybody who wants to part it out, and am not selling any parts off if this car; everything is being sold together. Anyone can pm with any questions. I'm also not "bumping" this car, if someone buys it, that's great, if not I'll just keep it in my collection.

Re: 1988 Dodge Shadow CSX-T: the only one made with a sunroof

I bought this car in November of 2013. Still don't know history of the sunroof but I replaced the engine - it wasn't the original because it had the 6 bolt flywheel from an earlier model. Also, it was not seized as thought, but the trans had come loose from the block locking the starter into the flywheel. Replaced with one from a 1988 Turbo LeBaron, same #'s, with 80k miles. Re-sealed it, new t-belt, water pump, flywheel, clutch kit, cv axles, struts, steering rack. The body is really nice, the interior is almost complete now.
I'm trying to keep original as possible. Came with the original wheels but without center caps I am not using them, using the wheels that were in pictures. 16". The one thing I did learn was that although the body is in great condition, it was driven hard. Idiot mechanics. The engine/trans coming apart, the steering rack had been replaced before-the steering column was outta some other model because it wasn't bolted in right - carriage bolts were ran down from other holes and it had a column shifter cut off with a hacksaw. I found a good tilt column from an '88 Shadow. There was pea gravel everywhere on the frame underneath, like it was driven on back roads - hard. Had to replace the rear trailing arm, it was bent. Also the catalytic converter had been removed so I have to replace it for state emissions. But I've put about 400 miles on it just running around Denver area with junkyard plates. She is fast, but was really scary to drive until I replaced the struts and steering rack. I had a 2004 Mach1 Mustang here, V8 5 speed, and this little CSX-T ate it for breakfast.
