The piston could take no more and my SRT4 is getting a fresh shortblock. Number 2 cylinder had zero compression while 1,3,& 4 pumped 170, 167, & 155. Teardown so far shows no deposits on the back of the intake valves, bearings look like new, crankshaft looks like it just went in. Both cans are perfect save for the one lobe on the exhaust cam which has a small groove in it, yet the roller on the rocker is fine. The bores are worn, but cross hatch is still visible. Piston skirt coating is gone in some places, but 70% of it remains. #2 is toast & the rod is bent. I suspect the oil consumption lead to the fair amount of carbon build up on the faces of the valves and combustion chambers, which in turn caused the detonation and damage.
The head and intake I have been working on will be put on a J&E piston attached to Eagle rods in the shortblock. The same turbo and all other components will go back in the car to evaluate the dynamics of the head & intake.
More to come later, including some pictures.
