Exclamation East Coast Timing Assn. Top Speed Racing - Wilmington, Ohio April 28/29

ECTA has a new venue, and it's right in the OVC's backyard....

    http://www.ecta-lsr.com/

First meet is April 28/29. Wilmington Ohiya - between Cincy and Columbus.

Let's think - If Reeves' Omni goes 140 in the 1/4 mile, what would it do on the mile???

The guy with the rampage said they were mainly letting experienced people register and run at the first event, or something along those lines anyway.

    George,

Pat is correct in that registeration is closed with 175 entries http://www.ecta-lsr.com/
Everyone was expecting this to happen due to the new track.
Still going to be a fun meet albeit, probably very hectic.
I'm getting in Thursday evening and will be helping setup on Friday and other stuff part of Saturday.
If you've never seen LSR come on over.....really cool and really great people.

Yep, Hot Rod magazine has been sponsoring the 1st meet for quite a few years fot the "Street Shootout".
Really neat to see "street" cars go 200+ mph in a standing mile.
It will be cool to see what the runway at Wilmington offers as I've heard it's smooth as a baby's butt.
Maxton was a "challenge".....the track, return road and pits.

I'll be the old dude (with grey mustache) wearing a kakhi colored baseball cap, some sort of hoodie, jeans and kakhi colored croc shoes. If you see me, please stop me and say Hi.

I'm in weather permitting. I'm not much up for a cold rainy day standing out in it, as I have had sinus problems since January! I am up for the heat on in the shop, a few beers, and putting the OMNI back together! So Gregg and anyone else that might be going, my shop will be open if it gets rained out.

Actually, just checked the weather for Wilmington and Sunday is mostly sunny, 54 degrees, and 10% chance of percipitation. Not too bad.

    R/T and James,
Weather Channel is now showing 44 for Saturday and 30% chance of rain. Maybe the rain will hold off but damn, 44. We've been in the 70's and 80's here is NC....I'm probably going to freeze my butt off....waaaa! (LOL). Even if it does rain, it will still give me a chance to checkout the facility and Wilmington.
Yeah, the weather is looking better for Sunday 54 and also 10% chance of rain but I will only be there till about noon. Leaving then for the 9 hr drive back home.
James, probably will not get down your way but thanks for the offer.

C'Ya guys there if you make it.

I'm probably going to head up there Sunday if the weather looks good. The kid couldn't get enough at the drag strip, can't wait to see his reaction near the top end of the track when the cars are going by at speed.

This was enduring 3 1/2 hours of torrential downpours and fog from Mt. Airy, NC to Beckley, WVA and this was through the mountains.....not fun.

Talked with some with a couple of guys from one team (staying at the same motel....Wilmington Inn) a little and really nice guys. I hope that Firebird really puts down some numbers this weekend.
Saw a really nice SN95 Mustang but didn't get a chance to talk with him.

Scoped out Wilmington a little and it is a very nice town. Rode out to the Air Park and man what a facility. I did not get to the runway we will be using.....will get to see that tomorrow.

I'm here to volunteer for Friday then spectate for Saturday (weather permitting) and then outta here about noon on Sunday.

My favorite spot has always been the top end of the track and always hoping for big numbers.

    Gregg,
Will you be at the track Sunday at least until noon? I plan to get there early and would like to meet up.
    Did you bring your Rampage?

    Joe,
Hope to see you there. Would you want to ride together?

    R/T,
What's your plans....caravan or ride together?

I *may* have the OMNI back together by then. Head is ready to go back on, but want to pull and trans and adjust clutch and go through trans and put back in.

    James,

Truck is not ready, still at the body shop.
If you and others get here, let's meet at the registration trailer at 09:00 AM Sunday. You will pass it on your left when you are going to the spectators parking.
As I said in another post, I'm the old Dude (with grey mustache) that will be wearing a kakhi colored baseball cap, jeans and kakhi colored croc shoes.....kinda hard to miss.
