Here is vid showing behavior I thought it was coming on because ok knock since I have cal from shelgame with that feature.....but it only comes on when letting off gas after accelerating and never comes on when in boost....also pops on for about half second when cruising at low speeds and has high vac

I've got his cal and mine was doing that too. Turns out my alternator front bearing was wearing out. Replaced the alternator and no more "knock". I would check the accessories, alternator bushings, and engine mounts.

thanks yeah i do know the voltage fluctuates and can be bad alternator....I just wanted to make sure the behavior was not knock and i was not hurting anything as you can see it was not under load or accelerating where i thought i would be getting knock....so basically this is just false knock reading ?

Yep it's probably false knock. I didn't catch it until the alternator quit charging and when I pulled it off it was obvious what was wrong. The alt bushings on mine were toasted too so I found a good used set out of the junkyard. How do you like that cal? Mine is so fun to drive it made a big difference in the power.

    Re: Strange CEL behavior

There's a lot of stuff like engine mounts, suspension parts and bushings, axles etc that can pop and bang a bit when suddenly unloaded, especially if worn or damaged... which may cause undue knock indication.

    Re: Strange CEL behavior

thank you guys so much for info i know my drivers cv shaft is not the best and i believe i should change my mounts out as well....your info was really helpful

As soon as I can figure out how to post new video I will....its rather long but it does show the cel behavior a little bit more and it actually did flash briefly a couple times today it appears at wot and got out of it as soon as i noticed it but it is still mainly while decelerating ....so i guess I better find some one with a scanner and verify if it is or not before i do anything bad to this car

    Re: Strange CEL behavior

it made a big difference in power but I am just worried i am or have hurt motor with the way this check engine light is acting that I want to make sure it is nothing before i up the boost or anything

this video is super long but shows idea how CEL acts and that 90% of the time is only when decelerating....still feel bad as I feel like i was getting on it too much to test it and show what was going on
