Which engine is compatible with the computer for a 1988 Csx-t?

My csx-t needs a new engine but it seems impossible to find a stock running one. So does anybody know what other years of 2.2 turbo might be compatible with my car with no modifications at all, so I can just plug in it in one afternoon without modifying anything?

You can use a 87-89 TII engine. It will actually be an upgrade, but no other modifications should be necessary.

You can use any 86-88 2.2L turbo engine. It's just a TI setup.

Sure, but you could use any engine with the appropriate turbo pistons for a swirl head and the actual swirl head itself. If the OP is just going to run the stock cal with stock pieces it should be fine.

The water pump, housing and tensioner setup is different on an 89+ so you'd have to change that or run 89+ stuff.

Other than that, any suck or blow thru 2.2 will work.

That's a good point. You can put the newer stuff on the older block, but you have to notch the newer block's pan to run the older pump housing right? I know the older pump housing bolts right on. I've done that before.

Yeah, you have to notch the housing as the block is different. I've never done it but people have posted up.

But if you are swapping the whole engine as an assembly, with accessories, then you don't really have to worry about any of that stuff.

correct sir 88 is the only correct pnp next year is 2.5l and the previous is suck through garret setup.

Not the Colt, Colt Vista, Viper, Ram 50, or Raider, or Caravan, but everything else is a possible (Caravan started in '89 and only had 2.5T)
