Nice find, nice pics and info there. The white car is still local and we've see it from time to time at the Belvidere show or Mopar Nats. It was also in a magazine at least once. I'll see if I can track down the owner...
EDIT: Just read the story... One of our SDAC-Chicagoland Chapter members met the owner when the car was brought into the dealer he worked at ~15 years ago. The then owner (who is the guy who saved it) claimed that the reason it was killed was that Shelby wanted his "Shelby GFX" exclusive to his "Shelby Dodge" cars. The red car was crushed, white one saved... luckily.

WOW! Never saw this story before, only the picture JT posted. Not sure about you guys, but I am definitely saddened this project never came to fruition, being a Turismo owner and all, I am a bit partial lol.... Pretty cool inside info from this guy.

cool story, nice picture collection.
Thanks for the link! That story is great, could you imagine just graduating from college and getting a job like that
Thanks for sharing the link, I've seen pictures of the white never of the red one. Very interesting article, he mentioned the cuda as being the first VIN # Plymouth in 1985 that had the turbo engine because Dodge wanted them exclusively, but what about the 1985 Plymouth Caravelle that came with the 2.2 turbo as well.

I recently ran across the magazine article about these two cars. It said that there was no evidence the red car was still around or had been crushed. The article said that Shelby killed the project to make the Shelby trim a premium Dodge brand offering.
I keep thinking it would be cool to make a replica of the red one as it MIA.

By the way anyone else notice that on the White one the side GFX decals were from a GLH-T, yet on the red one they were from a black/silver SC hood bulge?
I had a Shelby Charger once that was painted white...I thought it looked great.

Somebody should build a replica of one of these cars. I would, if I had a Charger.

Neat read for sure! I've seen the other articles on it before, but getting that inside story and seeing the detailed pictures is pretty darn cool!
There was a thread about this car on Mopars the other day. It never fails when a front drive Mopar is mentioned, the bashers come out. You can tell none of them have ever driven a turbo Mopar.
Kevin Isenberg EVERYTHING is for sale!
corrected....You can tell none of them have ever driven a turbo Mopar.
You can tell none of them have ever driven a "true" Mopar.

Those discussions get fun when you point out that the original 'cuda was kinda weaksauce in it's first year, and didn't really come alive until the 2nd gen... '64 had a max of ~180HP in ~3100lb, but then they are "allowed" to make the point that you can drop a 426 hemi in it, but disallow any mention of building/tuning up the 2.2 to 500hp or beyond...
