The transmission from 96+ has a rear mount.
Rear exhaust manifold is different as well as attaching it to the downpipe and cat.
I *think* the 3.3l became a non return fuel system after 96.
not sure about the electronics.

96 M:Y transmission changed electronically. Went from a PRND sensor to a range style sensor or something like that. Theres a specific date of mfg that is the cutoff point for the older stuff and the newer design took effect and there not cross compatable. I'll look for it later as this recently came up on allpar.

Kinda figured with everything going obd2 in 96
We bought it with a blown Trans 5 years ago and put in a Mopar reman
They said there was a lot of variations 96-99
