well they want 200 dollars for just the short block and 10 dollars to lift the motor out i gotta get it ready so if anyone can tell me for sure which one is the 10:1 pistons i will just buy the short block even though i have bought full motors that are running for that price

i dont think these cars have any better cranks then ours do they

1992 = 10:1. I have never heard of a non 10:1 diamante though. Listings for replacement parts are often incorrect.

Can you pull the front head and then give up without paying anything?

Turn the crank and make sure it turns freely 360 degrees if the VC is missing. The motor I ran 11.5 with was actually seizing from corrosion due to a missing valve cover until I soaked it down with deep creep. Obviously being free'd up doesn't make it a great cylinder.

yea i was working on that yesterday and ran out of time i will be going back sometime this week to finish getting the heads off and getting the cams and short block ready to pull. are the heads worth grabbing too. they don't get paid till i get the part so i will find out if they are good or not

heads are the same as ours though i would not bother grabbing them sense the valve cover has been missing. do your self a favor and get the newest set of heads you can (96 +). chances are they have the good c clip valve guides and had less abuse.

also, dont be like.. remember the rocker assembly for each head is only good for that specific head!

ok well whatever head i get i am doing so experimenting with i am trying to come up with a solid rocker mod using the stock rocker with a insert where the lifter goes. just trying to get all the pieces together to build the motor

would be cool if you came up with a solution!

I think 92 was the first year to get c clipped valve guides but i also think that your 92 could have a build date in 91? thats why i say get a late model one if you can.

    Re: junkyard teardown of diamite

well i have nothin for this motor yet getting the shortblock hopefully this coming weekend and i have a set of heads but a bolt hole is striped out that holds a czm bearing(and the people i bought it off of swore it was a good motor) to bad that wasnt the worst thing i found either. now since i am using those rockers as the test rockers for the solids. now i was thinking of getting a full motor out of a dodge car so i get all of the mounts and brackets needed since the shell i am looking at doesnt have them. so it might be cheaper to by a good dodge 3.0 as well as the diamante shortblock. now once those are all here i can start putting the rockers togther. i have been in contact with turbovanman and asked for a cam to get done to max the stock lift of the head and to have a useable powerband up to 8000 to fully test my rockers. lets just hope nothin comes up in life so i can accully keep working on this first and not something like billls and life lol.

My 92 motor ended up having C clips on the exhaust valves. I had thought that I dropped a guide when I was smoking but it was my big cams/solid rockers that had smashed the seals.
