So when I finally got the car back together I took it out driving. Anytime I got into the car, it would pull up to about 3500 rpms and then it would shoot up to 6k rpms and the car would keep going. I've had problems with breaking the tires loose (19" rims) a lot, so i presumed that was the cause. But then it happened when i was doing about 65 in 5th gear. No matter how built my car is, its not breaking them loose at that point.
Logic would dictate the clutch needs replacement (not many miles on it, so i'm a bit confused) but i figure that's where i'll start.
Basically I don't hit the track much, so while i'm looking for a clutch that could handle it, i'm not really looking for a race clutch that's hard to drive on the street. The majority of my seat time is cruising around town (or at least it was 2 years ago when i last drove the car with regularity).
A number of people recommended the purple clutch when i talked to them...is this what they were referring to?

Any help/advice is greatly appreciated. My anniversary is coming up and I plan on making her buy it for me as a present. But i need to be able to point her directly to it, or i wont get what i want
edit:
Sorry, i have a rebuilt (by Cliff R) 568 transmission (89 Daytona Shelby with a 2.5 swapped in, stock engine was 2.2)
