Gas-a-just rear strut installed on L-body.

Strut choices are very limited for L-body. Either get $30 strut that is very soft and worn out quickly or get $400 koni that is out of most everybody's budget. But I managed to find something that works. No, it won't lower your car (unless you cut the spring a lot), but it's great stock replacement. I sell the pair of struts for $130 shipped to your door. It'll come with full step by step as well.

Due to the DIY nature of our community, we do have a "Group Buy" section for limited runs of products. If a contributing member would like to offer something to the community on a limited quantity and one time offer basis, they would start a thread in the Group Buy section and announcing price, how many they plan to make, etc. If they plan to continually offer the product after the Group Buy, then they will need to become a vendor.

Harry good idea, but you started on the wrong end of the car! Now find a gas-a-just or something else that is a less expensive semi bolt-in alternative to the koni for the front and you have something. Hope you sell a bunch of them quick, as you know that shock part # won't be secret much longer than after your first few orders get sent out. Sorry to say, bit I'm afraid that is the nature of the beast in the TM world.
    Good luck!

Unless you peel the stickers and file the stamped markings and paint the struts a new color

For the front on my lbody I'm using a Bilstein HD insert for a MkII Jetta. I cut the threaded portion of the jetta strut body off and welded it to the stock lbody strut. works like a charm. I have Bilstein HD 94/95 mustang rear shocks with a coil over sleeve for the rear. Haven't installed the rears yet but the fronts work very well. You can use a sleeve on the front lbody strut its a common size.

I have Gas-A-Justs on the rear of my Omni. I'll see if I can get a part number off of them.

Re: Gas-a-just rear strut installed on L-body.

Will do, although I am almost positive they are not the same ones Harry has. I got mine off eBay a long time ago and the part number came back as being for the early L-body, although I forgot which years. They fit the car perfectly and didn't raise or lower it at all. I had to reuse the upper donuts as this was long before Polybushings.com was remaking them. Don't have a part number yet though....will have to crawl under the car for that tonight after work. I was using them with stock GLH Turbo springs and I really liked them.

(edit)....hrm seems since my membership expired I cannot attach images from my computer. Hope to have that rectified tonight.

Here is a pic of the Gas-A-Justs that I put on my Omni GLH Turbo way back when. Unfortunately I didn't write the part number down in my notes, nor did I get a good enough picture showing that. I'll go out to the garage and see if I can get the # off of them....real cramped out there though! Not sure if I can do it without removing a tire.

Well I tried. There just isn't any way I can see the number on them without pulling it out of the garage and removing a wheel. With all the stuff piled around it, that's not going to happen anytime soon. I'm a little embarrassed to say that is the first time I've even looked under the car in years. They still look new though! It's been sitting there since '06 or '07 when I blew the junkyard 2.5L racing an STI

I had gas adjusts on my 89 ES shadow winter beater. I stored the car at my in-laws one summer and when I brought the car back for another winter I had puddles of shock oil under each rear shock in mt driveway the next morning. Pistons must have rusted and as soon as I started using them again the rust killed them. Good thing was they were limetime warranty on them so I got new ones free. Tough part was finding a dealer in my area to inspect them. Hope the same don't happen to you. Don't you keep receipts? Shock # would be on your receipt.

I got them on eBay. I do keep reciepts though, but not usually eBay invoices long after the fact. I also have GAJ shocks on the rear of my Shelby Lancer. Been on there since '04 and they are still doing great. Was just looking at them last week when test fitting the spring adjusters from Rich. It's high and dry here in Wyoming though.
