Almost all of them will work. IIRC, for my '86 Daytona I used a Lebaron PDC as well. It is almost a wire for wire swap. I wish I would have written mine up. You need to make a couple of jumpers. I left the external relays. If I would have had more time when I did it, I would have replaced the external relays too. I did my swap in a parking deck in a location about 12 miles away from where I live just to get the car back home. So, it can't be that difficult. You really need the diagram from a newer car you pull the PDC from and your '86.

I have no idea if it would be easier but I used a 1st Gen neon pdc on my omni. Not sure which one would be easier in the bigger cars.

Most PDCs will have the wiring on the lid to them. Of course you'll still want to verify wire gauge etc. before going off of that. I know that with the Neon ones you can remove the pins pretty easily so that's not an issue if you want to change wire gauge or wire color.

Depends on your level of wiring experience and capabilities. I didn't think it was too hard, but I've done wiring on cars since the mid 90's.

I cheated. I have the '86 FSM and a good friend has the '92 FSM. It has been about 2 years ago since I did this. The later cars have a lot more options and things on individual circuits. So, there's quite a bit that is unused. The Neon PDC is very similar (maybe just a couple of wires different, if that).

I will see if I can dig through my FSM to see if I still have the diagram I made. Like I said, I was kind of in a hurry when I did it.

Personally, I'd yank about as much as I could see, give myself plenty to work with.

Here's my notes to myself. I really don't know if I could make sense of what I'm looking at without diving back into it. And my car is currently a few hundred miles away from me.

Re: power distribution center in an 86 turbo z

The 1G Neon PDC works really well with our cars and they are much easier to find.

I got two of them and then populated the extra sockets that are normally not used using the extra wires from the second one.

The wire colors match the 80s cars for 90% or more of the wires.

I have the diagrams of what I did at home and I can dig them up later tonight or this weekend. It should probably be a KC article.
