What year radios fit what year cars, how to tell year of radio?

I have a 95 Neon with an aftermarket radio that I want to replace with a stock Moapr unit. I have three stock units, but I don't know what year they are from.

95 neon radio should have the same mounting tabs at opposite corners that any din and a half (big) Chrysler radios had from the late 70's unit the late 90's. Find just about any radio from that era and it should work. When you get into the early '00s that the mounting tabs were in different locations.

anything up to around 2001 ish, as long as the faceplate is square you should be alright. I like these ones, they have problems but are fixable.

early 80s to early 00, plug and play. even some of the newer 2001 radios like the new neons plug right in, but the face plate is the wrong shape.

I have the radio from my 98 Durango in my 86 SC so it should go the other way. I took the mounting kit for the aftermarket radio in the Durango out of my 85 SC

all the din.5 radios use two plugs a gray and a black. If the radio is newer it will have a single plug but there is an adapter to use the newer radio on an older harness. You can use any square face radio.

Thanks gang...I have my choice of 3 different older radios that I can now swap into place of the cheap aftermarket one. There is nothing wrong with the JVC but I LOVE the ease of setting the clock/treble/ and base of the old stockers!

Don't listen to these guys, you can stick whatever radio you want from whatever car you want.

Re: What year radios fit what year cars, how to tell year of radio?

I actually put a mid 80's Horizon radio in my 3 banger 96 Geo....I had to redo the wiring of course and made it mount partially into the dash using longer screws and a chunk of plastic as a spacer. The original cup holder in the Geo was barely big enough for two toddlers sippy cups so I removed the consol and made mounts to put the front pull out cup holder from a Chrysler mini van in its place. The car could THEN carry to large drinks with no troubles. BTW, it's for sale in my sig, but has been sold some time back to a guy that used to have a 14 mpg Ford truck to do 240-275 mile daily trips to estimate costs of putting in house doors and windows. I would get 52-60 mph on the highway, depending on how fast I would go...he is getting 45-56 driving it any way he wants. He told me that he saves an honest $75 every two days with it!

ID:	36069Yep, even made money in two of the three times I raced it...19.9s at...65! 12.5s at 57 1/8th.
The first guy I ever raced with it was dialed 7.70 to my 19.90.....he went around me at a hair over 170 mph and...lost! We both had ran .002 off our dials and my .030 RT was just enough to ruin his .036 RT day! There were NO mods done to the car except 140 lbs of wt reduction, headlight covers, and a grill block.
