SDAC-16 - July 20th thru 23rd 2006 - Topeka KS
Over the last year or two, we have received multiple suggestions from our members to join our convention with another group to enable us to have track events that are getting too expensive for SDAC to host on it's own. In response to those suggestions, we are joining with the SRT folks for a combined event. This combined event will be held at Heartland Park in Topeka Kansas.
The Shelby Dodge Auto Club will join the SRT folks on the track and in the midway as we run our annual national meet with them. This is a great opportunity for both organizations to get together without sacrificing the traditions of the SDAC meet.
The SDAC-16 car show and banquet will be held on Sunday, July 23. We'll share the road course, the autocross, and the drag strip during the SRT Nationals, and all of the SDAC participants are welcome to register for the SRT Nationals car show and banquet, as well.
The SRT Nationals will be held from Thursday July 20 thru Saturday July 22, 2006. They have a road course day with instructors for a driving school and also track time for the more experienced folks. There will be two days of Drag Racing, and an autocross also. If you want to participate in any of the track events, you must register at the SRT Nationals website http://www.srtnationals.org
They will not be accepting any onsite registrations, or registrations by mail. And note that SDAC will NOT be collecting any fees for the on track events (or any of the other SRT Nationals fees).
The SDAC-16 specific events will follow the SRT Nationals on Sunday July 23 with our car show in the morning till early afternoon, and our hospitality/awards night that evening. SDAC will not be sharing the SRT Nationals host hotel, we will find our own. SDAC will only be collecting fees for registration for our portion of the event and will be handled as in the past where folks can pay by PayPal, by check or money order by mail, or onsite.
SDAC and most of it's members attending SDAC-16 will be on hand for all days of the SRT event. We are invited to participate in any and all the SRT Nationals event. So if, for example, you want your car in a judged car show, it can be in the judged show at the SRT Nats. The SDAC-16 car show will be strictly a popular vote show, but of course we have 19 classes dedicated to the SD/TD models. If you are into showing your car, there is an opportunity to be in two shows at the "same" event!!
