Depending on the version of tubular cross member and A-arms, might be able to move them forward by running the appropriate shims

Not sure if any of us L-body 2dr people's are going to be able to help much in the 26" modding depo. I think Reeves has run the biggest slicks on his 4dr and prob has the most experience/ help to offer.

In other words; We're with you bro, but you're kind of out on your own at the same time! (going where no 4dr L-body has gone before!)

Don't you have coilovers. If so raise the car up and you might be able to fit 26's in without much more effort?

Yes I have coil overs, and will need to raise it about 1" for the larger diameter. You would have to raise it ALOT for them not to rub. I don't even know if there would enough adjustment on the coil over to do that.

I couldn't get 24's on without rubbing, I think you will have to cut the wheel opening forward and lose the front airdam wrap around. Scare up 2 sets of front fenders and I will modify them, I'm looking for a set to do just that.

Re: lengel's TIII Omni GLH progress (used to be spirit r/t)

Just got done putting rim screws in for the bigger slicks. I was going to just use a hand drill but figured I would mess up as my hand to eye coordination is not the best so I did them on the CNC . These May or may not be needed, but for $15 I figured why not.

HaHa! Well I would like it to. To be honest I have no idea at what point they would be needed. Guess I could have put them on, and marked the tire to see if they moved a lot, but it was cheap and I had the time.

Got the fenders cut. They aren't rubbing lock to lock. Still have to trim the air dam, but that's the easy part now.

That looks really nice. I can't wait to see what it looks like with the air dam back on.

Not enough pictures. Guess moving forward prevented interference in the rear?

    Awesome! Need more pictures!

Yes you will need the rim screws. Mine used to move about 1/4" a pass until I got the wider rims (9" instead of 7") and then they started moving about a 1/4 turn!!!

Wow...I didn't think they'd move that much. At what pressure?

Re: lengel's TIII Omni GLH progress (used to be spirit r/t)

Do any of you use the black rim goop? I discovered (kind of by accident) that if you mount your slicks with that stuff and let it completely dry, the slicks don't move.

Years ago, on the 24's, I would always mark my slicks and watch the movement. (and they would always move a little) Then one fall we ended up changing over the slicks and didn't run any more that season. Next spring I went to the track, marked the slicks as usual and watched them all day........Not move, At all!

So from that time on, we always mount slicks way ahead of the time we will need to use them and have never had a problem with them moving on the rims since.

I used bead sealer on mine. I think it was brown. Same concept tho. I never marked mine to see if they spin inside the wheel tho.

The black bead sealer should do it unless you're getting really crazy. The black stuff we used when I did tires would make a really good joint if you did it right. I sealed up many steel wheels which were pitted beyond belief. Don't be afraid to put on a couple of coats.

Got the air dam trimmed and put back on tonight.

Yes no interference in the rear by moving the wheel forward. Now I moved the wheel forward by .250" to get the 24.5 to clear, now I moved it another .75" for the 26s so that's a total of 1" forward off of the control arm opening on Brian's K frame
