I might be interested but I assume they'll all be L body axles for a group buy.

Sounds awesome! Just a little more work and money the I'm willing to invest into this.

This is the only pic I took of it AFAIK.
Wow thanks Rob! Looks and sounds like you did a nice job on that shaft. I think this is going on the winter todo list.

Oh man how did I miss that! I just looked over your thread, and found where he described his finding. They are the same issues I found as well. I think as long as the ring gear flange is not hardened I could turn the flange thickness down and countersink the bolt holes to use flat head bolts. Anybody know if they a hardened?

Well if the srt4 diff could be used, I would use the srt4 half shaft and srt4 inners as well. I did a short search on broken srt4 axles, and it seems like they are more prone to breaking shafts and joints. Didnt find too many that were breaking the spines off the inners like we do. Actually I didn't find any, but like I said I did a quick search, so I'm sure it dose happen.

I'm guessing is sort of hard being a gear. maybe use carbide to cut it? What about the bearing and tailshaft housing?

Maybe I worded that wrong. I meant the flange on the diff that the ring gear bolts to.

...and I was thinking is like the 555/568 where the gear and bearing housing are one, LOL! It might not bee too hard then!

Only on 26" tires and enough force to break bearing backup plates in the trans... and I'm wondering if the culprit is also the leverage on the PS inner allowed because the length is extended in there without good support (see comment about adding a bearing to tailshaft snout)

So where will the slippery slope of mods end at to really take advantage of the diff that can use larger splines?

Re: lengel's TIII Omni GLH progress (used to be spirit r/t)

Thanks guys! I still have to get some srt4 axles, and see how that will all play out. I looked up the axle seals for a srt4 and a spirit r/t on autozone, and the same part # came up for both. So it looks promising.

No I ended up finding a bearing that used a small cup diameter then the srt4 bearing. The bearing retainers still needed to be bored out a little.

Just something to consider. I'm not sure if it is affordable or not. My friends big dollar mustang uses a "slippery" clutch, much like a sled. So the car doesn't see full power till the rpm's get up. Might be something valuable for the big hp guys.
