WOW Adam; incredible results from a long and arduous journey.
The work you've put into that just blows my mind!
To see such great results this soon is outrageous.

This summer, although higher ambient air temps,
I think you'll pick up another .5 just from familiarizing yourselves with each other(you & the car).

    Bravo my friend.
Maybe I should make a more concerted effort to get down there to see you?! (pick your brain a bit) lol

Going that fast on 23 psi gives me some hope you will have transmission problems eventually and be forced to help improve things :P

I can't remember, does Lengel's car have Slowe's K-frame in it? If not, that would help due to the revised anti-dive geometry. A little more suspension set-up and larger tires might not be needed.

He could also cheat...aftermarket traction control isn't that expensive (comparatively) and works VERY well from everything I've read once it's tuned in.

Yes it does. Plus it's got that cross trans mount which I will be doing to my Neon.

When you say "forced to help improve things" I hear "A413" HAHA!

I would love to put a bigger tire under the car, but i dont see that being a option. I already had to move the wheel forward in the wheel well, and cut the fenders to clear the 24.5s,

Yes it has a slowe K frame in the car. I think once I get the 2 step working, boost by gear working, and get a good track prep, the car will 60' a lot better.

Haha! I have a A413 sitting under my work bench and will use it if needed, but that is my last resort. Rob (shadow) is I think the fastest 5speed car out there, and he doesn't seem to have many if any trans problems. Has anyone ever gone into the 9s on a 5speed? I don't think the 568s will live forever at the power level, but as long as I'm not breaking a trans every time I take the car out, it will remain a 5 speed car.

Part of the reason Rob doesn't have many problems is because his car is very light. Of course you will be able to get closer than almost all K-based cars, so you probably might expect similar longevity.

Made a brass bushing to replace the stock plastic bushing in the shifter. Stock bushing had .006" clearance, new brass one only has .001" clearance. This took a ton of the side to side slop out of the shifter.

Man, I've been thinking about doing that for a while! It sucks not having the tools to pull off stuff like this. Well, I guess I could ghetto machine it with a drill and some files.

    Anyway, good work!

Re: lengel's TIII Omni GLH progress (used to be spirit r/t)

I was noticing that mine were beat up while putting some new cable bushings in one of my cars. One of those parts nobody deals with.

I wonder also about that side plastic piece, not sure what we call it.

That and the shifter ball cup. Those seem to have more slop than I'd like to have. It's not much, but that can make the feel and accuracy of the shifter better.

On the shifter ball cup I took .005" shim stock and wrapped it around the plastic cup. This seemed to help as well.

That little ball and socket on the side? Mine seemed to be tight.

No he's not! We'll convince him to make a billet case and dog gears before we let him go to a slush box!!

Finally got the 2step working. Got it hooked up to a momentary switch on the clutch pedal and a hand operated momentary switch. Can't wait to try it out at the track!
