Thanks Carroll! I did think about it. They don't spin that fast, and the only thing that would throw them any more out of balance the stock joints would be the weld. I'll know when I drive it, and if I get some bad vibration I'll have to get the end balanced.

Now THAT i think will definitely help and could even be a salable item if you didnt HAVE to machine on stock axles to make it work.

Dont push the red button. You hear me?

Yes! This is more along the lines of what I was talking about, something causing these axles to snap. I just have a hard time believing that sheer power was doing it.

I think you might have found your next product to make, if I start breaking axles on the daytona I know I'll be interested in a custom bearing retainer to stop the slop even on stock axle size and see if that helps.

    Those look OK I guess.

Seriously though, it will be awesome to see those in action at the track. I'm really looking forward to watching your car run again.

Re: lengel's TIII Omni GLH progress (used to be spirit r/t)

Well the car made three passes at SDAC. 2nd pass it went a 10.9x third pass it broke when shifting into third gear. Kind of burnt out on the whole turbo mopar thing, and my wife and I expecting our third child in the beginning of August , I just pushed the car in the garage a forgot about it for a while. About a week or two ago I took the trans out to find a broken input shaft. This past Saturday I put another input shaft in, and I'm going to give it another try in the next few weeks but I kind of expect the se thing to happen.

Give up on that drag racing nonsense Adam, Im sure with a little set up change and some seat time on a racecourse with turns and braking ,your axles and input shafts would last forever

Bummer, was really pulling for you bro! Hopefully it was just a fluke as very few have had issues with input shafts on these trannies AFAIK.

Now, I believe there was a discussion about how well the input shafts have survived on our cars and I Think the outcome was that a couple had broken, but strangely enough, they were all the Large splined (later model) ones?

Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Autocross it Adam. It's super fast, nimble and with the right suspension, you'd have a TON of fun. Already got the cage in it!

Oh, congrats on the baby thing too.

Re: lengel's TIII Omni GLH progress (used to be spirit r/t)

As others have said, not many have broken the input shaft. I have to agree that I think you will have the same issue. You put a stronger fuse in one spot and found the next thing in line.

Seeing how much time, energy, and money it has taken to get these parts to survive, I am wondering how well a carbon/carbon clutch starts to hold up as far as a "business case" is concerned? Yeah, they are stupid expensive, but the possibility of not having to worry about broken parts like this or having to find/fab as many custom parts might just make sense.

Congrats on the addition to the family!

BTW, don't give up on the TM's. This is racing, regardless of brand. If you aren't braking these sh*tboxes you will be breaking anther type! LOL

Congrats Adam ! Did you really mean beginning of August or October? If August your planning is awesome haha.

Just put an Auto Trans in there and be done with it. Or sell me your motor for the minivan.

    Hang in there.

As much as I would love it to be a fluke, I really think it going to happen next time I take it out. I think the DSS axles i was running would twist a lot. I'm sure the RCV axles don't twist much at all, so all the shock load is going it the input shaft instead of some of it being absorbed by the twist in the axle shaft.

Didn't know other broke input shafts before. I did a quick search bug couldn't find anything.

I would like to try auto crossing one day, it just seem this drag racing stuff tales up all my time.

I really don't know anything about these carbon clutches. Guess it's time for me to do some research on them.
