    Camshaft question

Well, was going to buy a new T2 roller cam from Rock Auto. Then I found my box of parts ordered around 95. It included a new cam and HD slider lifters.
Cam is part # 04387721. Internet search was very bare on information. Search on this forum did turn up 1 hit claiming it to be a roller cam. So does anyone know or can find out what cam rockers are correct? Thank You

    Re: Camshaft question

Post picture of your camshaft and we can tell if it is a slider or roller.

Looking at the lobes, I would say roller. MP books say roller also. Reciept was dated 2-21-96, but did not list company name, hand written. Rockers ordered at that time were P4349147.Ordered roller rockers from Rock Auto.Click image for larger version.

Looks roller. There is no cam shaft identification on the cam shaft itself. You'll have to send it in and get it measured.

99% sure it is a roller. A slider has wider lobes.

Does it say turbo on the drivers end?

As Harry said, you have to measure it on the car using a degree wheel and dial indicator or take it to a place that has a cam doctor-its a machine for checking cams.

Opened it out of the wrapper and removed the shipping grease. Package was not opened before, cam IS #04387721.

Sorry I am late getting to this thread. From the factory parts manual, that part number specifies a turbo cam (used for both t1 & t2) with stock sized journals. Used in production after 3-1-88.
