How hard to find a carb'd Shelby Charger?

I've kind of decided that I want to keep the 420a/2.4/2.5 Hybrid engine that I was going to turbo and put in a Daytona; but make it NA and go Super Stock racing in NHRA. I would be competing primarily against a couple of Neons. So, I think the best old-school body to use would be a Charger. My wife had a carb'd '84 blue-over-silver Shelby Charger back in high school and I always liked the car. So, how hard are those to find these days? I almost never see them come up for sale, and I've never seen a T1 SC in the same color scheme. Was the blue-over-silver an '84 only thing?

ive had BOTH a silver/blue and a blue/silver log t1 SC, as well as having a silver/blue AND a blue/silver 83 carb'd car, over the last six years.

Re: How hard to find a carb'd Shelby Charger?

I just haven't seen many blue over silver cars at all. I thought maybe it was an '83/84 only thing. Good to know there might be some T1's out there, too. Not that it matters for a NA 2.4 race car what the engine was originally...

Locally to Indy? I'll have to go look...

EDIT: http://indianapolis.craigslist.org/cto/2704845070.html Nope, that's silver over blue. I want the exact opposite color scheme... Not a bad deal for $800, though. Depending on the rust...

Yep, that's the one I'm looking for. Is it the more rare color combo? I don't see many of them...

Re: How hard to find a carb'd Shelby Charger?

Hard to find the carb cars. Because the Holley carbs were junk, there aren't that many on the road. And also because the turbo cars are so cheap, most people on here don't want to mess with a carb'd car. I had a nice 85 Turismo I just sold that was carb'd 2.2 high output, took me a while to sell for that reason. Sometimes the carb cars pop on ebay because people who aren't into these cars see Shelby on them and think they might be worth something.

i have an 84 carbed automatic shelby charger, i was told it was the least produced of all the shelby cars. it is garnet and silver. my daughter drives it now and wants to someday restore it. it has over 300,000 miles on it and runs very good. i also have a blue/silver 85 s/c and my son has a silver/blue s/c.

Rob, I have a Silver/Blue 83. The paint isn't pretty, the floor have been replaced, and there is some rust by the rear wheel wells. The drivetrain (not that it matters in this case) has less than 25k miles, front brakes (all components) less than 3000 miles, rear brakes shoes, wheel cylinders, and springs less than 1000 miles. The interior (with exception of cloth sail panel inserts) was replaced last year with one that had less than 23k miles when totaled. The tires have less than 4000 miles on them. Would also come with three spare fenders, spare flat hood, bulged hood, NOS lower airdam, spare fiberglass nose (part under the rubber nose), and NOS rear bumper cover. The stereo is worth the asking price. It just passed it's PA safety and emissions inspection. $1,000obo and it is yours. I'll post pics if you are interested.

Yep, the first person to see it in person bought it for the asking price. I deleted the cragslist ad and am still getting calls. I think I should have asked more.

Re: How hard to find a carb'd Shelby Charger?

It's OK, I got some info on a really neat possibility for a SS Charger/Omni. Hopefully we can make it work out. It's not blue over silver, but it's got more character...
