The header was built too shallow and hits on the intake. I will weld them togher before I install it, I might try a metal gasket before I weld it tho.

I got a little more done on the engine untill i hit another snag! The MP 318 springs DO NOT fit with stock retainer's so i just put the oil pan on and oil pressure fitting to feed the turbo and oil pressure sending unit. Not sure what i will use for springs now, may look into stiffer than stock.
I put the head back togher with the stock springs, next winter i will upgrade the cama and springs with a vendor product and see a back to back test. I would like to see where the power band is first and how hard the boost hits and what rpm. I still gotta take the oil pan off one more time and build a baffle and buff the paint off the letters on the valve cover. Things are getting done alittle faster now.
Looks great!

Why did the Melling almost cost you a motor?
Is this a thread hijack? Sorry speedfreek500 if it is!
From the first pic it looks like you have Accel Super Stocker plug wires running from the distributor, under the oil pan, around the back of the head, and then over the valve cover to the plugs FTMFW.
Did you use black wrinkle on the non-ac alt bracket and the water pump housing? Looks great from the pics!

I prefer rebuilding stock pumps. Reeves send mine, lol.
Looks good, red shines under the hood,

Lol thanks guys...... i will never use those super stock wires ever! those are the worst wires in the world. I just used tremcled flat black to paint the brackets.
I did alittle more after supper, got the TU 6 puck bolted on with the 520 and threw it in with out manifolds to check for clearance at the power steering pump. My header and holset look like they need alot of room back there.
Wierd...I did post the reason why, but it's gone now. It's even quoted above.
Here it is again:
If you port match the oil inlet hole on the block to match a Mopar oil pump, you won't have much sealing meat left when switching to a Melling oil pump. The Melling oil pump has a totally different oil outlet that mismatches with the block even worse than the original Mopar oil pump does.

Did alittle more today, drilled the holes in the header for the turbo to fit. I also resurfaced the flanges, i used a bottle jack to move the fire wall back 3/4 inch. Mounted the new style altenator and test fitted the intake.
You're lucky, tomorrow I have to cut the outlet on my HY and weld an elbow to clear the head
Hoping I don't have to massage the firewall, looks like the piece welded on the header to attach the
turbo hurt you.
Best use of a bottle jack ever,

I think all L bodies need alittle firewall massage, lol ya bottle jacks suck but it did work. If it lays on its side it doesn't even work.
I'm using the 9cm housing.
I have a turbo here with a 12, and it's alot larger in diameter, I guess thats why I'm thinking
I may not have to.
What size is your housing?
9cm housing, the 12cm was a hx35. My buddy did a hx35 swap into a 89 horizon and had to bash the firewall also. I went with this he351 turbo because it was a good deal and it will be lots of turbo and wont need to upgrade so a very long time.
