The shims are only put in the drivers side so that's why,

No on the back to back but your getting more air in, simple as that,

After I read Simons post about the oil feed hole, I went out and checked my block.

For reference, this is the oil feed hole in the block.
I used Neverseize to show what needs to be removed.
I'll take pics after and submit a KC how to.

Back from the wedding and caught up on some sleep, i took the cyl head to the machine shop to install new guides, back cut stock valves and a 5 angle gring. The head work is gonna cost $300.00 and i will have it back next week. I got some more parts in last week such as a adj cam gear, new bov and a Ebay 3 row aluminum civic rad, if the rad wont keep things cool its not a watse because it will go in my civic. I hope to be in the garage after work finishing the rad and intercooler mock up. This car will be at SDAC this year if all goes well.

I just put the rad and intercooler in for a size pic, i still need to trim and cut the rad support so the intercooler will fit behind the grill.

How well does the Civic Rad fit?

I have been thinking of trying a civic rad for my GLHT but never seen one fully installed with the modifications needed.

"The sole condition which is required in order to succeed in centralizing the supreme power in a democratic community, is to love equality, or to get men to believe you love it. Thus the science of despotism, which was once so complex is simplified, and reduced . . . . to a single principle."

"One of the methods used by statists to destroy capitalism consists in establishing controls that tie a given industry hand and foot, making it unable to solve its problems, then declaring that freedom has failed and stronger controls are necessary."

Re: 1986 Glh omni 2.5 holset build

I have got back to work on this project....... took my cylinder head to the machine shop for a 5 angle grind, back cut the valves and install new guides. I got a call a week later and was told the head was scrap, there were lots of cracks in the head around the bowl's and inbetween the seat's. I went to pick n pull and grab'd a head off a 1995 2.5 n/a spirt with 140,000km's. I will be doing a little porting and playn around with material around the valves. I took a a couple pics of before and will post some more when done.

I cleaned the head at lunch and marked out 5mm around the back side of the valves for a guide, nothing to fancey yet as my lunch hour was almost done. I used a sharpie to colour in and used my digi caliper and scribed the 5mm. You can guess why that spirit was in the jy. (blown hg)

    Old head thats scrap

    New head

    Looking good.

FYI, I had a GLH in my shop with a name brand aftermarket Civic rad like yours, it ran hot, had to put an L body rad back in, mucho better. It ran aprox 20-30 degs hotter with the Civic rad, it would run 220-230 on the highway,

Iam a little worried about it not cooling enough, it is a 3 row tho. If not it will go into my civic si. I did port the water pump housing and the block has been cemented , not sure how much coolant will be lost because of that.

I got to play around with the chambers abit after work. I used the propper aluminum bit for my 1/4 die grinder and went pretty close to the line i scribed out, than i used a 2" flap wheel to smooth everything out. I used the good old sharpie again to circle out the low spots than git it again with a smaller flap wheel. Iam not sure if i should go any farther or not? I gotta pull the valves out now and smooth out the short turn radias and off to the machie shop.

Sharpie around the the low spots

    After the smaller flap wheel.

Well like you said, if it doesn't work, you can use it in your other car.
