1986 Glh omni 2.5 holset build

Well after owning this car for 4 years and only putting 8000km"s on it, it will go under the knife again. This time around it will have a 2.5 with Je forged pistons, holset He351 turbo, eagle H-beam rods, pt lifters, mp 318 valve springs, shelgame custom cal, 23x11x3 Fmic with 4" exhaust from turbo to left rear tire side exit. here are some pics of the progress so far, the block has been ground and polished on the inside and bored 30 over and installed piston/rods and used arp studs.

    Nice.
I'm working the same build, trying to decide if I want to go Holset or 50.
    2.5, Weisco's, T2 rods/arp'd, with a A413/RMVB

Well i got alot done in a month on this beast, i got alot of parts for TU such as a obx, StgIII 6 puck clutch combo, bearing plate and a adj cam gear. I got a header from Glhs60 (Randy) and had turboshad make a new flange for me. With out the flange in place the intake hits the header and wont even come close to bolting on.

Wow, it looks like the parts are gathering themselves rather quickly there. It looks like that should be very nice when it's all said and done.

Nice work but you missed opening up the oil pump hole,

Does that turbo have the electric solenoid on it? Can't see it.

I didnt do the oil hole because the machine work was already done to the block and didnt wanna get material in the oil passages, i know i kick my own --- now for that now. The solenoid is long gone and has a pipe plug in it. I bought the turbo used and was kinda sad it was not there and would have very nicely with my greddy profect eo1 ebc. Ant the hauling azz thing it will do!

    Gotcha, and shitty deal,

Just curious, many have been caught out with the HE351 and really got a 341.

Yes, it will, and so will my van one day, but not holding my breath for 2012, but that's another story.

Basically your opening up the hole so its slightly larger than the block, so you put grease on the block, put the pump down and you can see what needs to be removed. Also open up the hole a bit up to the oil filter pad. I get 25 psi at idle and 60+ at 3K+ using 5w40 synthetic.

5 is obviously better, I had a 7 or 9 angle done on mine. (the machinist likes working on my heads for some reason) Atleast buy some +1s, you can use stock seats, let that holset breath!

What's the intercooler rated for? The Return style like you have pictured cool well but typically don't flow the greatest. It could end up being a bottleneck at some point in time. I can see using it for packaging reasons if that is one of your concerns.

Im not sure how much more they will "flow", but since youre paying for a valve job anyway why not? Youre putting new guides in already, paying for a valve job, plaining, and cleaning. might as well toss another 120 at it for new/better valves. Im not sure how you feel about porting but i would atleast gasket match the head/intake/exhaust since youre this far into it. Lets get this thing to flow!

I pulled the old bearing races out last night and didnt even wreck the oil blockers! but i did notice the was only one shim in the steel housing and none in the speedo housing. We got a shim kit here at work so tonight i will set the preload on the obx. Has there been a back to back dyno with stock valves vs +1mm done yet?
