    Re: 1989 CSX-VNT #453 - Restoration

Going to update here and link the for sale thread to this post for pics, just to keep the log in one place.

Did some assessing of the damage and it's not terrible, but I just HAD to hit the rear quarter at a bent place in the metal. The bumper covers are shot for sure, the bumpers themselves need to be replaced, although they aren't terrible. The rear got the most impact, as the bumper support bracket is bent, the one that bolts to the frame. I'll let everyone check the pictures out and see what you all think.

As it stands, I am going to have to replace the following:

    • driver's side tail light
    • driver's side rear bumper supporting mount/bracket
    • driver's side front bumper supporting mount/bracket
    • rear bumper cover
    • rear lower CSX ground effect
    • front bumper cover
    • driver's side front fender
    • driver's side headlight bracket (not the headlight assembly)
    • driver's side front turn signal housing

All in all the list isn't bad, still kicking myself for not taking off the rear CSX ground effect when I meant to. Obviously this wasn't planned, but I had intended to pull them both off and either get them fixed or have them off so nothing would happen to them if/when I sold it. D'oh! Checked all the yards in town and there arent' any Shadows or Sundances on any lot. Probably didn't hit every one of them, but really just need a lead on where there is one and go pull everything. I may just look in the Indy area and go one weekend if I can find a car. Cordes and I pulled the dash for Pat at a yard close to him and it had a MINT Shadow, although I don't remember what year it was. Hopefully I can find one of those or maybe even someone selling a non-running one. I'd have ZERO problem scrapping a standard shadow to get this one close to where it was before.

Oh well, here are the pics. With regards to the headlight assembly, I'm fairly certain this was already broken. I say that because, the damage there is in no way indicative of an impact that would have caused that and nothing else. It looks like the tab just wore out and snapped off. Regardless, still going to fix it now that it's disassembled.

    What? What happened?!

Adam I was heading back home from Bloomington and as I went further south the weather and roads got worse. Simply put, I was going too fast and caught a place on the road where they had pushed the snow and slush to the right side median. Spun out and hit the guard rail on the right side of the road, first in the rear and then in the front. It could have been worse though.

the rear quarter looks like the worst of the damage since everything else is replaceable. how do you plan on fixing it, weld in a piece form a parts car ?

We'll see if it gets bought. I have a few people still interested. I don't think it has to be cut out and replaced. I'll let the owner decide that.

The rear definitely took the worst of it. Still very repairable though. The bottom side is still rust free so the rest is easy IMO.

haha, well I hope it's easy. Not sure what I'm going to do. Still want to sell it, but I may have to fix it before so. Either way I'm taking a loss.

haha, Man I seriously don't plan on keeping it, I just feel like I'm doing a dis-service if I sell the car in poor condition.

Well the other guy backed out, so it's still for sale. I'll post up a new price and we can go from there.

The 4 door Sundance/Shadow, besides the doors and interior carpet, are they the same front and rear? Would the fenders be the same in the front? There is a running Sundance close to me, but it's a 4 door and I don't want to bother with it if it can't be a donor car.

    87 dodge shadow - $400 (Stanford)

    1987 Dodge shadow

It's not in running condition. Needs a piston connecting rod. Would be good for spare parts. Asking 400 willing to make a deal.

I don't think the parts between 87 and 89 are interchangeable. And I don't have a way to get it, well I don't think I do. Aren't there differences between the years?

Many parts are interchangeable between 87, 89 and up to 90.
The fenders, doors, and quarter panels are among them.
