    87 l body chrging system upgrade

    hi guys!i am new here and am looking to upgrade the charging on my 87 l body i converted to t2.anyone know what all i will need.diff. belt,pulley, what alternator,what to do as far as wiring goes.also have a ambiaant drain if car sits for 2 or 3 days but thats a whole other thing.one at a time?thanks in advance for any help!

    i used the denso alternator that came from a 90 shadow. Get the tensioner brackets and everything with it however.

    Check the fusible links by the driver's side strut tower.
    These are usually bad or poorly repaired.

    Here, with some more time, you can do it without notching the frame, I was just simply out of time with that car, very long story, lol.

    i just used the smaller 90 amp Denso alt, cant imagine what id need 120 amps for.

    I think I forgot to add that you'll need the stud/nut deal for the later style tensioner off of the pump housing. The old style one won't work with the new tensioner.

    well guys,i went an bought a nippo for a 90 shadow which is a 90 amper.i installed it using original brackets,belt and no wiring to screw with!as someone stated earlier i did have to enlarge positive ring terminal to fit over stud.thats it!!couldnt have been easier!thanks everyone!she charges all happy now.not to mention those alternators r a little easier to come by.i tried buying one for my 87 charger and no one had one.diff mounting,pulleys,etc.
