Re: What is up with Knowledge Center?

The old KC is totally incompatible with this version of of the forum software, VB4. in order to stay current with security stuff, we had to go to VB4.

so we tried converting the original KC to the VB4 native article system. the system fought us tooth and nail and it sucks balls. JT and I were all gung ho on converting things until the system started doing idiotic things and breaking itself and sucking which burnt us out.

then frank implemented the current KC system which is decent but all the articles still need to be converted over.

    this is the current KC.

    http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums/knowledge.php

here is the old KC archive.

    http://www.turbo-mopar.com/forums.ar...vbarticles.php

if you have articles in the old system, please add them to the new system and PM me what ones you did and if there are formatting issues.

AJ, search is tricky in VB4. First click on "Advanced Search:"

then you have to click the "single content type" tab at the top of the search area. then near the bottom, you have to search by "Last Posting Date" and "In Decending Order" and it will work.

for your stuff, you can always click "My Threads"

Re: What is up with Knowledge Center?

I went and spied on AJ's profile and found his threads from 2007 and 2006 using the recent threads link (albeit that he only has about 3) so I think he just overlooked them at the bottom of his "page 6."

Is there a reason why the KC requires security if you still have the old one up? Can't just link over to the old place and just run that separately without the constant need for attention/updates? I know its not a sleek and sexy new code but it works and doesn't make you give up from frustration.

From the first page of this thread:

If you click on my name and click threads started by me, you'll see the threads/write-ups I wrote all the way back to 2006. But if you go into those sections, they only start at 2008. So unless someone knows how awesome I am and know to search me for my threads specifically, they won't find my write-ups. I've read threads by others and have tried to go back and find them but to know avail. Like the offset for a LM. I knew I read it somewhere but couldn't find it so I had to post the question in a new thread.

if you have the archive, then you have the whole old VB image iirc.... which doesnt have current security.... which threatens the server.... which could nuke the whole board and a bunch of other sites.

the archive is only there so we can move the articles over.
