ARP head stud torque?

I've heard a couple different numbers. This is for a high boost application (switchable boost 15 psi street, 29 psi track w/ race gas).

45ft/lbs and then do it at 90ft/lbs and then after a few heat cycles, back them off and retorque at 90??????

Back them off? Wouldn't that risk getting oil between the head and headgasket thus making it bad? I'd simply verify that they are still at the 90lbs of torque you set them to. No backing off at all.

I was told to do it like this

loosen
torque to 45lbs
loosen
torque to 70lbs
loosen
torque to 70lbs
loosen
torque to 90lbs
loosen
torque to 90lbs
then 1/4 turn

ARP Head studs/bolts are not torque to yield. I don't know about the 1/4 turn. I go 10 lb steps from 20 to 75 ftlbs if it's a stock or felpro gasket. I go to 95 if it's a multi layer steel gasket.(Cometic) I don't loosen them either. I just click them to the last step after 100 miles or so.......

I'm with Jerry.. That's how I do mine. torque each bolt a little at a time.. 10 pound steps so nothing gets warped or seats unevenly.
