    '90 VNT Daytona Project (Roller)

    Date: 13th October 2011
    Username: ShelGame
    Full Name: Rob Lloyd
City, State, Zip: Whitmore Lake, MI 48189
Contact: shelgamerob -at- att.net or PM on the forums
Selling or Wanted Price: $750 obo; trades considered

    Description:

I'm selling my latest project car. It turns out, that with 3 kids, a full time job and a side business, I don't have time for 2 project cars. I shoulda known, really.

Anyway, I want to do some serious work to my race car this winter (roll cage, new slicks, traction bar setup). Selling this will also help me raise cash to get the race car work done.

Enough about me, onto the car:

It was originally a Black '90 VNT Daytona. It's now Viper Red. Paint is actually pretty good. But, not great.

    - Engine/trans are gone.

    - Suspension from a '92 Spirit R/T has been fitted with the cast control arms, K-Frame, and brakes. I bought new Moog sway bar bushings, but they need to be fitted. Springs appear to be aftermarket to me. The rear seems to sit lower than stock to me. Front is hard to tell with no engine/trans in there.

    - The body is about as rust free as you can expect. There are a couple of small holes in the floor that I had started to repair (by stripping the rust/paint around them), but I never had the time to weld them up. Honestly, there's probably not a more solid Daytona in Michigan.

    - The car has a complete black interior that is out of the car. There are actually many spare interior parts, too. The drivers seat is NOS!! The other seats are very nice, but used.

    - The car didn't come with a rad/IC, but I bought an original VNT rad/IC that can come with the car if the buyer wants. Otherwise I can sell that separately easily.

    - Has 16" Pumpers mounted on it. 2 Tires are good, 2 are crap.

    - Even though it's not pictured, the front bumper, fascia, and air dam are included. Actually the bumper and fascia are on the car now.

    - More info and pics here...

    - Car is In Whitmore Lake, MI (just north of Ann Arbor). I have a trailer, so I can deliver a short distance if you pay for gas.

    - Looking for $750 for everything. But, I'm willing to negotiate and/or part it out - as long as someone takes the shell first. Also have CB engine parts if someone needs an engine to rebuild.

Aww, c'mon; don't make me separate it all. If I don't get at least some tire kickers by next weekend, it's getting parted...

Re: '90 VNT Daytona Project (Roller)

I must admit I am interested, but I don't have the time for a project of this size. Part of what makes this so tempting is the interior is gutted to fix the rust issues, but it can also be a bad thing as the car came gutted so it will drive most people nuts looking for all the hardware and try to figure out how to reassemble it if they've never done it before.

Do you have a VNT engine, or any common block engine that can go with the car?

I have several common blocks - but no complete engines or even bottom ends. I'd go with Jason's deal. If it makes the deal work, I'll even go over to Jason's and get the engine for you (you'll have to pay Jason separately, of course).

    Thanks for the offer Jason

Re: '90 VNT Daytona Project (Roller)

In all honesty, this couldn't have popped up at a worse time fro me. Had this went up for sale after I get married in June of next year, I'd be in a better spot to devote cash and time to a project of this size.

Like I said, I'm interested, but I need to have talks with some people as to where i can store it/ work on it. I'll let you know as I do.

Jason your offer is very generous.

The car has a VNT engine bay harness with it - just not a VNT computer. Though, I can build you a VNT computer from a 2.5 T1...

I added it up - I can probably part this thing and make $1200. Of course, not all in one shot, though...

Be a shame to see the car get parted out. Hope someone buys it.

    I thought you might be

There's actually 2 rear seats and a spare front (drivers) if you wanted them. Not nearly as nice as the NOS drivers, though.

Re: '90 VNT Daytona Project (Roller)

After thinking and talking this one over, I can't save it. The same reason it's being sold are the same ones that are keeping me from picking it up (no time/ no space/ no money to dedicate to it) so rather than buying it, sitting on it, getting tired of dealing with it and then trying to resell/ part out, I'm going to pass. Real shame, I wanted a stick shift car/ toy to teach the wife how to drive a stick, this would have worked nicely.
