the first 2 months of my bringing my Shelby back to life

so to start off with this is a 1990 Dodge Daytona Shelby VNT intercooled 2.2l with 124K miles on the odometer ( not sure it its entirely correct) i bought it for 1,000 bucks it started out .....
    the good
a new a568 with only 200 miles on it
    a new clutch
    new alternator

    the bad
hadnt run more than 200 miles in 5 years
    broke pass side window regulator
    no front Left axle
    half the gauges didnt work
    trashed windshield
the exhaust cut off half way
oil pan, rack n pinion, valve cover leaking
plus all the stuff mentioned below that i wasnt sure was wrong until i dug into it

first a little back story, i bought the car for 1G and sold my pokey slow --- 01 camaro rs t top (auto v6) w/ 44K miles on it for 6G, put a K&N CAI and Magnaflow cat back on my Hemi Durango and spent the rest on my Daytona
when i ran out of camaro $$ i got a loan for 3G more and this is where im at 8G into the project (purchase price included)

All this in the last 2 months,

    new windshield
    2 axles
    2 trans mounts
    console
changed all the fluids (royal purple 10w30 in the engine and 5W30 in the trans)
stock air box w/ K&N filter
    L&R tie rod ends
    Magnapack cat back exhaust
    LF window regulator
    wipers
    new tires
powder coated CS wheels gloss white ( also have 3 spare CS powder coated gloss white wheels 1 for full sized spare and two awaiting drag radials)
    alignment
    L&R wheel hubs
    new plugs
    8.5 mm wires
    dist cap and rotor
    MSD Blaster 3 coil
    valve cover gasket
    PCV valve
    L&R rear shocks
A/C Belt (yea that stayed on all of 2 weeks now A/C Delete inprogress!!)
    o2 sensor
    F&R Springs
    Fr struts and strut mounts
    Rack and Pinion
    L&R inner/outer rear bearings
    Fog lights

next up this weekend is changing my stock intercooler to a FMIC
i ll post up pics as soon as i get it done should be fun!!

The future?? well i havent thought too much about that seeing how everything up to this point has been getting her mechanically sound and only 1 or 2 fun stuff. She still needs all new vac lines which i have just need to get them in there, and i'm thinking a catch can cause the intake side of my turbo was pretty wet when i pulled the hose off. i have a stock VNT airbox w/k&N drop in right now but im really thinking of going to a cone filter i dont suppose it would hurt the ECU to run without a hose hooked to it . . i think i might need to get the oil pump changed soon also cause it hangs out at the lower side of safe on the gauge @ idle but come up when driving. so i ve kinda make this "project list" of all the things i want to do so these are my plans going forward

thats all around 16.5K left to be spent, alot of $$ but I know its gonna be worth it and way faster than most other 25K cars out there. plus it will be quite unique, and like i said i loved the 90 ES turbo i had 10 years ago and have been missing it since so im fairly excited about this build. i toyed with the idea of bringing it newer by swapping an SRT4 into it but i kinda want to keep what makes it a daytona so it wont just be an sRT 4 in a daytona shell. Let me say right off im in NO way dissing or hating on those who have done it by no means!! im just actually not sure what i want to do right now. indeed it would be way faster and have a much larger aftermarket and easier to find parts for but i kinda think i would really like to see where this 2.2l stuff will take me. Well . . . .. . whew .. that took alot of of me i suppose that is all for now i will post up lots of pics later on. i welcome all constructive comments thoughts and i deas. stay tuned for the next exciting ( or maybe not so exciting ) chunk of this adventure.

sounds like a fun project with some realistic projections
I'd be worried of a run of the mill remained motor
most have hypereutectic pistons which don't care for detention in boost applications
for $3500 installed you should be able to put together a decent motor
and have enough beer / pizza money to have some locals help you drop it in

Good to see that someone local picked up that car. My brother really wanted it, but he had already started his Shelby Charger project. There are quite a few local TD guys around the valley, so you should be able to find parts and help when you really need it.

I'm looking for a center console lid (with latch) and center dash bezel (around havoc, radio & vents).
Good luck with your project. Just keep in mind that things always wind up costing more than you expect.
There are certain things that you don't necessarily have to change. Also, figure out what u want the car to do. The VNT might not be the best choice if your looking for low E.T.s. Alternatively you may not need forged pistons or a crazy head if your building a daily driver.
