BWOOP BWOOP guilt trip alert!
Dont push the red button. You hear me?
My motivation to make the 8.5 hr drive this year is lacking partially due to the cost of gas prices and towing out there. I am going to Chryslers at Carlisle though.

The old Four Play had been gutted down to 1760 lbs, launched at 5000 rpm, shifted at 7200, big valve head with lots of flow work and about 10,9 compression, 500 lift Lambros cam, long tube headers with a long collector on it, Holley 500 2 barrell carb, electric water pump, alternator delete, manual steering, with my 240 lbs it the car needed a bit over 146 hp to run 13.98s. If I had to do it again I would have gone with a 350 4 barrell carb!

By extension, i guess that means my unlightened CRX and Insight would both need about 150hp to break into the 13s.. neato.
Im excited, i just ordered a carb for my 87 3.9 dakota from rockauto. Of course i ordered one for an 85 5.2 ram to get a non-feedback one so we'll see how that goes!

OK guys. It was easy to get the car not to run by removing the carb. It's another matter all together when it comes to getting it to run again. How do I make this work?
I'll add that this carb must be a DGEV and What most use is the DFEV which is apparently a direct bolt on. I would really like to avoid spending the $200 just to get the right carb though.
What does you throttle cable end look like? I had a DGEV on my 87 2.2 dakota and used a the factory cable and a universal throttle cable bracket from autozone. My throttle cable had a hole in the end and I just ran a pin through the cable into the carb's bracket and it secured with a cotter key or hitch pin.
DFEV not a direct bolt on. Need throttle arm off the holley and fit it to the DFEV.

Would this dodad work to get this car running? I know it says for GM models, but the squares look like our cables could fit in there?

Also are there specific gaskets to put under the carb that I can pick up some place? I'm assuming a vac leak of any kind would be a problem under there? That's what would happen right?
I really want to get this car up and running quickly without having to shell out $200 for a carb almost exactly like the one I've got on the car now.
Get some bulk gasket material and cut out a base gasket for it. When you cut for the venturi openings, cut them about 1/8 oversized so it doesn't cause any interference with anything. Give that a try.

Ahh the fun of making a controlled fuel leak do what you want it to do...

I have a feeling you may be talking about the idle circuit. Do you have a pic?
