    Question spark plug hole oil

here lately i been noticing oil around the spark on cyl 3 so i thought valve cover gasket well i changed that and still have oil a round cyl 3 could it be coming up through the motor and passing the spark plug out and if it was covering the spark would it cause wired starting sometimes and it acting like its skipping that cyl sometimes. what could cause the oil to be pushed up threw the hole.

    Re: spark plug hole oil

In my experience the engine is getting a lot of blow by (source of the oil), and the spark plug isn't seating completely against the cylinder head (how the oil gets to the outside of the head). It's possible the plug isn't tightened enough, or there's debris in the hole preventing the gasket ring from seating. My old Daytona had a small crack in the head from a repaired plug hole that the oil seeped through.

I drove the car like that for 3 years.

    Re: spark plug hole oil

Blow by is caused by worn rings or a misrouted PCV system.

Some with this issue have porous castings so the only fix is a new head.
