    fishcleaner's GLH-T build

I guess it's time to start a project log since I can add the exhaust in the "ta done" list. I owned this car about 10 years ago, did the basic mods to it and it ran good, sold the car and bought it back about 5 years ago and decided to go all out with it and have some fun. There isn't much stock left in it, boxed up the engine compartment, manual brakes, Forward Motion CNC ported head (stock short block for now until everything is sorted out), modified 2 piece intake with a 65mm Edelbrock 5.0 mustang throttle body, .82 housing turbo with 50 trim, 568 trans with 5/16" morse cables shifting a Mad Dog shifter and will be running an Electromotive TEC3 stand alone system. This is my first time fabricating from scratch and anybody thinking about purchasing a welder, just do it, I wished I did it 20 years ago. Pictures are in my gallery.

The exhaust is 2.5" out of the turbo and flares to 3" before the turn at the bottom of the firewall and the wastegate ties in at the 90, I added a bung for an exhaust gas evacuation hose if I decide to use it.

That's a lot better than I could do. I've got you listed in the SF Blue GLH thread correct?

    Re: fishcleaner's GLH-T build

Sometimes you just get lucky, I welded the intake off the car without being able to test fit it, it kinda looked tall so for peace of mind I cut it again and lowered it 3/4", the neck I just eyeballed and hoped for the best. I should have bought lottery tickets instead. The throttle cable cam points right at the throttle cable hole in the firewall, the IAC is a 1/16" from hitting the hood and there is 1/8" from the back of the intake to the bracing added to the firewall.

I was able to stuff a big intercooler behind the grill, took some nudging, but it fit, hahahaha

BTW, I'm looking for some headlight buckets with trim rings, some how I misplaced mine.

The trigger wheel is a 120 -4 tooth since its driven off the cam (crank is 60 tooth -2), you can easily make a pick-up off your now useless dristributor by bolting a big washer to the rotor and adding a big notch to it. I was going down that path but I'm new to this DIY computer stuff so I kept it easier with batch firing injectors, besides when I'm driving this car, its not going to be for fuel economy, any gains in that direction is just a plus.

I'm liking the hood, looks like we had the same idea... Heck, I think there might be thread somewhere we might have discussed this! I'm glad to see someone actually doing it, and I am curious if it's doing what you wanted it to do (and what that is)...

I imagined venting the hot air from the radiator aiding cooling and reducing lift at speed...

Is it connected to an actuator or?, I see it in a couple of positions and am wondering if you automated it in some way or if it is just a "open/closed" kind of thing... "Cool" any way you slice it!

PS BTW, I really like the plumbing, it's nicely done!

    Re: fishcleaner's GLH-T build

The hood was pretty beat up when I started so I had nothing to lose by cutting a hole in it. The intercooler takes up the entire front end and I wanted to help bring some air flow thru the radiator by venting it out hopefully into a low pressure area. No actuator yet, it pivots on 2 router bearings with the rod held by set screws so I can adjust it or flip it. It's so smooth of action that I might counter balance it and have the air flow lift it when it wants. I always like the old air grabber set-up so this was my way of paying homage to that.

Fuel lines are in, I welded a bung in the center of the fuel rail for the return hose, this way in the future I can run 2 fuel pumps, I found an air cleaner that fits and it just so happens its the one I wanted to use.
