I really like putting the hole for one of the shifter cables on the lbody on the passenger side of the exhaust tunnel and then running it parallel to the block. That way it isn't kinked and has the correct angle for the bracket. With these I can get it a little longer and make it perfect!

I will have to give them a call soon!

my --- is dragging, I was going to remove the shifter cables this past weekend but it has been to damn cold with wind chill that I can't seem to work up the much needed motivation. Hopefully I get a day that isn't so bad and some free time from work.

Carrol, what type of cables did you have made exactly? And for what trans? (car its for?, trans its for?)
I'm about to send out Daytona and shadow cables 555style. I lined them up side by side and they are very close in length. It looks like maybe an inch difference between the two. Not sure if it really matters but I'm going to label and send them both.

Just shipped both sets of cables. I also included some information describing what style transmissions they were for (a520/a555 and body style info). I also asked if he could save the info and drawings for these that way if someone on this forum wanted a set made it can more easily be done.

Has anyone had these made yet for an L body with an A555?

I am in the process of doing an A523 transmission conversion on a 1986 Dodge Daytona Turbo Z. So count me in for a set. Any word on how long before these can be completed ??

Ok, let me know what you hear. As soon as they are ready I'm ordering (3) sets. 1 for my GLH, 1 set for Mom's GLHS, and 1 set for Dad's Shelby Z (his keep freezing up in the cold).

Re: Custom SS Hiem jointed shifter cables.

they just called me today to ask some questions, They are going to keep the "ball cup" style attachment for the cable ends, there will be NO plastic used, instead it will be metal with a ball socket and retaining clip. This way we don't have to modify the way the cable connects to the bottom of the shifter or how it connects to the trans side. Also he is going to measure both P body and G body cables seperatly to see how much different they are and decide if he should make two seperate length cables.
He is going to call me again when he gets the parts together and give me a total. When he calls me I will ask again to have the prints saved so that you guys won't have to ship anything to him to have it made. So if you want P or G body cables for an A555 or A520 you should be ok to call and order when I'm finished.

    Carrol - just great.

Really? I'd rather just have the heim joint ends like Carol has on his cables. You can just bolt them to each end. No pin or clip needed.

But, I guess ball cup would be alright....but I'm confused then whey you need a clip?

Maybe cuz the OE solution to keep them on was a ball clip?

my shifter has ball joint ends that the cables connect to, there isnt exactly anything to bolt anything to. Carrolls shift cable attachment is different, they have a cut out for an E/C-clip.

Right, either way is fine. I was just thinking they'd put a rod end (heim joint) on the cable ends. Then we can take the ball off our lever and just bolt the rod end (heim joint) to the shifter lever. But, like I said, these look like high quality stuff, so hopefully the ball/cup type arrangement will work just fine with little to no slop. My factory ball/cup arrangement has a lot of slop.

Or are they wanting to re-use the factory ball/cup?
