I need the old style mechanical speedo cable from an l-body. I was taking my dash board out and like a dope I forgot to disconnect the cable and broke the end.
non-cruise btw.

I'm going to try to buy a new cable.
I've actually had good luck lately buying the P-body cable from Rock Auto. The P-body is longer than the L-body cable so it doesn't require the extension piece the L-body had on it. Of the two different cables I ordered from Rock Auto one came with a rubber grommet and a hexagonal nut for the transmission side end while the other cable had a knurled end for the transmission side (which still worked fine) and no grommet. The other difference was that the hexagonal one had a plastic end for the speedo head that had to be trimmed back to fit where the knurled one (ATP P/N Y829, $9.98) had a metal end for the speedo head that worked without modification. For under 10 bucks each this is the way to go. I bought 3 of them after I found they worked well. Upon arrival you need to pull the cable out of the sleeve and lube it up good before using it. The only other catch with the ATP is you need to re-use your old firewall grommet which takes some stretching with pliers to get it over the cable end.
