    Building hybrid transmission 555 questions.

Alright, today I tore apart an 87 555 and being the first one I did I didnt realize that they didnt use a nut to hold on the overdrive gear. My big question here is will this input shaft work in a 523 case? I like the 523 shifter setup and I have a 523 with a good pinion bearing so thats what I planned on using. I have a 568 but its condition is questionable and the clutch I have is small spline.

    Any input on this?

I think it will physically go in the case, but I don't think that you can make it work. Of course you have to use to corresponding gearset on the output shaft, but I don't know if you can install the gears on the 523 shaft due to the different synchro set-up. I could be wrong as I've never tried it myself.

Also, I think you'll have to use the input shaft front bearing/seal carrier as I think the seal size changed.

    87/88 555 needs 87/88 520 parts to make a hybrid.

Re: Building hybrid transmission 555 questions.

Rats, well I still have the 568 to go through but I have this nice clutch disc that's for small spline. I thought it would work. Anyone have a 90 568 that they would trade for a iffy 568 and a 555 lol. Thanks for the reply though.

but what about just the input shaft? Aren't they the same gear count as the 1-4 on the 568?
