I believe this is my problem. The PP fingers are flattened as i tighten down to flywheel. Any suggestions?

All pp fingers flaten out when the pp is tight against the flywheel.
What was the problem?
Clutch wouldn't disengage. PP bolts were over 20 ft lbs., probably causing problem
What disc are you running? Brand new usually = disc is to thick, unless your throw out bearing geometry is wrong.
Over tightening the PP bolts won't change the PP working tolerence, it will only make the bolts weaker IF you go too crazy.

Agreed with the above. What EXACTLY have you done or had done and what clutch?

Its a Beck Arnley stock clutch, which is actually a Valeo, made in Korea. Installing as per FSM. I had previous leaks, rear main, front input and a slew of others. All fixed. Installed and clutch wouldn't disengage. Decided best was to re+re, torque to spec. etc.
What car? Did you remove the arm off the trans? Did you adjust the clutch pedal? Has the cable come off the clutch pedal? Did you machine the flywheel? Did you replace the clutch cable?

Sorry, 89 Daytona T2, No, did not remove arm from trans, pedal was adjusted, so was shifter. Cable was attached to pedal, all OK as per FSM. Clutch cable is brand new, exactly same as old one. Flywheel not machined, installed a new one.
I see you replaced the clutch cable, But you said its the same one as the old one.
I do know that there are different size of cables, so you DID measure them and they are the same length?
Yes, measured and laid down side by side. It functioned when i drove it about 30 miles.
Was gonna say, had one come in like this years ago and they put an AM cable it and it wouldn't dissengage. (wrong length cable)
Also, you said you adjusted the pedal? The pedal is self adjusting, so is that what you ment?
I would have measured the throw on the bearing arm to confirm you are getting the right travel while it was still in the car. (hopefully it IS still in the car and that's just an old pic)

Drove car, had massive leaks. Thought I fixed the leaks, but started pouring again. While driving car I could not shift gears w/o double clutching. Got it home, removed transmission, resealed and decided to replace clutch. Put it together, cannot get into gear, even after aligning shifter. Shimmed clutch cable with washers, and even though it felt better, still no shifting. Jacked up car, clutch seemed not to release when engine running, but could shift into 1st and 2nd.(w/o clutch). When brakes applied it started running badly (wanted to stall, but no load as car in air)

Did not measure flywheel depth.
Take the plate off and make sure the disc is not damaged.
So the old clutch was doing the exact same thing before you replaced it?
If everything is still in the car, take a measuring tape and measure from the top of the bearing arm (that the cable goes through) to the bottom of the pad on the trans. (that holds the cable and grommet)
Then get someone to hold the clutch pedal down and measure again. Tell me what those two measurements are.

i onced washed under the hood of my car and it flash rusted the disc to the pp. it wouldnt dis engauge. i had to rock it back and forth to get it to come loose. only happened to me once.
Clutch disc facing correct direction? Springs could bind with flywheel bolts. Could be a faulty Pp too.

got trans back in, connected drive shafts, shimmed clutch cable, seems to work in the air. Can change gears, clutch disengages etc. Will finish install and test drive.
Got the trans in, clutch works. having problems shifting into gear. I get 3-4-5, if I force it. Only way to get first is turn off car, put in gear (slips in easily) start car and release clutch. I aligned the shifter, but didn't do a proper job. (I really rushed it as I was stuck in the driveway, and the temp is dropping) I am hoping a shifter alignment will work magic.
So the issue with the clutch was present before you replaced the flywheel and clutch assembly? Reading your post that's what it sounds like. If so, is the car new to you?
