Need a piece of an L-body strut

I'll be doing the R/T front knuckle conversion on an L-body strut. I need a piece of a L-body strut to take to my machinist for final fitment. Anyone have a junk L-body strut lying around that they can cut off a few inches above where the two knuckle bolts attach to and maybe send it in a flat rate mail box?

Go to your local auto parts store and get an Lbody strut. Have them take the measurements and return the unused strut.

Re: Need a piece of an L-body strut

I have new L-body struts on the Rampage now. But they are mounted with the springs and perch attached. I'd rather pay someone on this list a few bucks for mailing and their time for a junk strut to chop up and sent me the chopped up part. Just last month I threw a set of used ones out now I need one, crap.

That sucks. If I had any around, I'd send one out. If they just need the thickness of the knuckle where the strut attaches, I can measure a set of GLH knuckles I have sitting in my basment.

Re: Need a piece of an L-body strut

I have GLHT/SC knuckles. I already know the side measurement. In order for the R/T knuckle to fit in the L-body strut, you have to do 3 steps.

    a. Machine each side
    b. Egg the top hole
    c. Take material off the back of the R/T knuckle

By having a chunk of the strut handy it would probably help the guy know exactly how much material to take off the back
