I don't of anyone using a scatter shield on our cars. I don't even think it's required for a fwd vehicle as a couple of sub 11sec cars out there and they don't seem to run one.

How fast do you have to go before they start requiring one? I was looking for pics of you car to see if you ran one or not, but couldn't seem to find them even though I know they're out there.

    All FWD cars :

Manual trannys 11.49 and quicker must be equiped with a flywhell shield

Auto trannys runing quicker than 10.99 or faster than 135MPH must be equipped with shield meeting SFI spec 4.1
and 9.99 and quicker must be equipped with a flexplate shield meeting sfi 30.1
and a flex plate meeting sfi 29.1 specs

From the 2006 NHRA rule Book Section 2:10

"All FWD or transverse-monted applications using a clutch and running 11.99
or quicker must use a SFI spec 6.1 ,6.2,6.3 ,or 9.1 Flywheel shield"

If the flywheel shield is not commercially available you can fab your own

but must respect the material thickness needed and bolt grade

The rule book gives the specs , from memory I think it has to surround the bell housing(not including any part that the diff that is between the bell housing and driver) and be 2" wide

So if I wanted to be legal, I would have to fabricate a shield, and also find someone to make a flywheel?

    Re: tranny scatter sheild

There's several stick cars faster than 11.99...

The flywheel and pressure plate have to be steel instead of cast iron. My p-plate is a custom steel on, but not sure if the stock flywheel is steel or cast???

anyone know the thickness the sheild has to be? I got a big bender at work
