How to remove T-Track from A413"

Can anyone tell me exactly how to go about removing a T-Track from a A413 Tranny? Tranny in out of the car! This is a Lyle Reid, TurboNations T-Track. Thanks!

Remove the axles, remove the front engine mount, remove the rear diff cover, remove the diff pin, drive out the T-Track, check condition of gears and pin, reassemble.

You might have to remove the K-member but that's personal preference.

Remove diff cover, remove ext housing and bearing plate (can't think of right name, opposite side to ext housing, where the axles go in each side) then you should just be able to pull it out from there...... presuming you're gonna leave it mounted to that diff, coz I don't have a clue about that particular unit after that.

... installing it could take some jiggery pokery though, you need the bearings shimmed right for the exact width of the case it's going in. Buuuut, if you use the bearing plate/cup/whatever and/or the ext housing off the donor transmission and mix and match with the transmission it's going into, you might be able to get it "good enough" without pulling the cups out to put shims under.

What are you talking about? The T-Track goes inbetween the spider gears so no reshimming of anything is needed unless he has to replace the diff due to wear.

The tranny is on the floor. Not in the car. The T-Trac unit is spring loaded! I thought that some screws need to be put back into the unit to keep it from blowing apart when removed? I don't care anything about the rest of the tranny, it is scrap as far as I am concerned. I just want to remove the T-Trac unit, so I can re-use it someday or sell it. Just need to know how to get screws back into this, so no one gets hurt taking it apart. Thanks.

You put those in after you take it apart as you need a vice. You carefully drive it out and maybe use vice grips to stop it from "exploding".

Yeah, I was thinking it was more built into the diff, so easier just to transplant the whole thing... but if it's a phantom grip deally, then yeah, could be simpler that way.

Thinking you could use heavy duty zipties around it, as it comes out, ease it out a quarter inch, put one round it, get to 3/4, another one, until you've got 4 or 5 of 'em round it.

Diff pin might still be held with a roll pin if the installer didn't know about the diff pin keepers, and didn't use those. Could be awkward to get out with the diff inside.

Thanks for the info. We will give it a try and see how it goes. I just knew that those springs are very strong and wasn't sure if there was a procedure to put bolts back in. Thanks!

i used a few pairs of vise grips when removing one of these and putting it in another diff.

    be careful.
